How to format SD card??

11 replies · 12,944 views · Started 27 January 2005

I have been trying to get my Sendo to be able to find my 1GB Sandisk SD card.
All i see is format it to FAT yes, i know what FAT is, but i dont know how to format my card to it.
So if someone could please tell me how...
thanks

Naor

THE SENDO CAN NOT SEE MY SD CARD
It says, NO MEMORY CARD INSERTED

Oh and I might add, I've had the phone for less than 24 hours, the Sd disk has never been used, I got the Sendo off ebay, it seems to have one of the lowest ringers of any phone i've ever heard in my life.
Possibly a fake Sendo?? Or a defected one?
One of the reasons i got this phone is cuz of the "amazing speakers" but all i seem to see is a very low ringer with a viabration that i cant even feel when its in my pants.

IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME GET MY SD CARD WORKING PLEASE REPLY!!!! Help needed despretly

Try going to Extras | Memory | Options | Format Memory Card

It may take quite some time because the Sendo is quite slow at formatting cards, but i think most phones are.

The sendo can't see my card, so I can't format it...
Now I was reading and some people say it might be because its on NTFS or FAT32, but I don't know how to change mine to FAT, which is what I think I need it to be on.

You'd need to have some form of sd card reader for your PC then, or another device that can format your card. I think you can pick them up quite cheaply through eBay 😊

I have a Belkin like 15-1 reader, that can read my SD card, but I can't find any option on formatting anything.
I installed the disk that came with the reader, but it has no software, only drivers. And no options that were in windows allowed me to format it.

In windows, assuming you're using a recent flavour, you should be able to browse to My Computer, then rght click on the dirve with your SD card in it, and select format.

From there you should see the option to make it FAT

Hey thanks a lot,
I formated my SD card to FAT
and my Sendo now says that my disk is corrupt....???
why is that?
maybe because I don't have any info on it?

That sounds a bit odd, I wouldn't think it was because it is empty.

Peraps you should run checkdisk on it from windows, although Im not sure it does all that much good, but it would be worth a try.

My Computer, pick the drive you want, then right click and do properties. In there there should be error checking options (again depending on your windows flavour)

this is just UNBELIEVEABLE

it just doesnt see that it's there

Maybe you have a duff card 😞

did you try to re-format it in the phone, or on the PC?

S.

Well, when the phone said it was corrupt it would not allow me to reformat on the phone, which I tried.
Since It would not let me I went online looked through some forums and found that I should reformat when it is corrupt, Did that, put absoluetly no info on the card, then the Sendo cannot read the disk anymore. I have tried reformating more then once, and the Sendo just can't read it, also
Should I put the little clip down or up on the left of my SD card when putting it into my sendo?
