Question Why isn't my WLAN showing?

This has been puzzling me for a while now;

Sometimes when I log on, I think using Web, I can't see my wifi connection, when I get to select network. I have to click "Show All" to show the Wifi and then click "connect" to get it up n running...

... Why isn't my network displayed... ?

Why isn't my network connecting automagically...?

Why is the 9500 software designed to clumsily... ?!

I have a similar problem and i was going to post it here on the forum.

I tested the wi-fi connection on a Mcdonalds restaurant nearby and using the built in "network finder" i couldn't see the network at all times, it kept appearing and desappearing saying it couldn't find any network, although when it appeared the signal was classified as good.

After this i tested at a company where i do some work and the same happenned, the network was detected, but seconds after it dissapears. I had time to create a access point but when i opened the browser the network wasn't there anymore.

I took the 9500 near the access point device (a wireless router) and the same happenned.

Could this be a faulty 9500, is this normal? What should i do?

Same here guys - networks come and go in my list. But what I find much more frustrating is that I cannot ever see my home network. I have it set up with WEP security etc and can see it/use it with different laptops but my 9500 won't even acknowedge it's there that alone log on?

Any ideas?

or are we all in the dark (or more appropriately blind at least where WiFi networks are concerned! :-)

Cheers
Jago

Jago, I can see mine, but only if I click "Show all" when the connect dialog comes up... very annoying - Maybe I just need to sit down and click through the Control Panel...

Its more likely to be at the AP/router end.

Could be that the network is set not to broadcast its SSID (name of the network), or that its locked to only certain MAC address. Also depends on the Wi-Fi type (b, g, g+) and all the slight differences in the protocols between manufactures that there is a slight incompatability between the two. Generally we find the best results using the same make AP's and NIC's. Worth checking that the AP also supports the b standard as well as anything quicker !

Myself I have a 3Com router @ home. This is set not to broadcast its SSID normally (so no one else can find it) but when I was creating the access point on the 9500 I had to turn this on so the 9500 could see it. Now when I connect to the LAN @ home it does not show on the list, as I'd expect, but if I press show all .. it works a treat

I've got a Belkin B/G AP and it works flawlessly. I've got it configured to not broadcast the SSID (haven't turned on MAC filtering yet)

That's exactly what I have to do too - I have to press "Show All" and there it is... connects and disconnects perfectly, no problems at all...

... but it's REALLY annoying as I might already be connected to the WLAN when checking mail, and this thing comes up... Grrrr... Clumsy Clumsy Clumsy system, Nokia!

I can't remember if this (clicking Show All) was the case with my old AP...?!
