Unhappy 6670 MMC card corrupted: "system error"

Hi

My Nokia 6670, abt 2 months old, was working fine until one day some pictures in the image gallery started dispalying as broken. They couldn't be deleted so I left them as is and continued taking pictures using MMC card as default option.

But a week ago while taking pictures I got a message "system error". The pic would not save on the MMC card, I had to switch to using phone memory.

In tools when I access the memory card details it shows a capacity of 61 mb and not 64 mb. And it also shows 40 mb of that is "used". However it shows 0 mb under images, video files etc.

Should I format the card and hope it works? Or is there some way to recover the data (some pictures.. not so important but if it can be recovered would be nice).

Also I cannot figure out WHY this happened as I'm told MMC cards are relatively free of corruption problems. I dropped the phone once (not v hard) - could that be the reason? Everything else sems to work fine though.

Would be grateful to anyone who could help answer my query.

regards

well my 7610 also says 61mb and i know theres no problem, 64mb cards have 61mb capacity... usually the system error comes when u try to turn bluetooth on from what i've heard.. i think u should formatt it.. there would be no problem in that and i suppose it will be fine again and i have also dropped my 7610 loads of times so i dont think thats the cause..

I did format and no use.It just hangs and continues giving the msg "memory card corrupted" or says "memory card nor inserted!" How strange is that. Guess I will have to buy a new one but this is v disappointing. This card came with the camera... And I see from other posts that MMC card failure is happening to others as well. Is there some reliable brand of MMC cards one should opt for?

Have you tried opening the phone and removing and re-inserting the card? Perhaps some dirt has got into the contacts, which is giving mmc not inserted. You should also try to read the card in card reader and see whether you can. Then copy the contents to your PC and then try to format it in card reader.

Now if the card works fine in your card reader, then problem may be with your phone and not mmc. If it does not then probably you have no other option but to get new mmc.

I would simply buy cheapest available, AFAIK mostly all this stuff is almost same and prices falling everyday. No point spending more. Ensure backup through PC Suite or card reader.

I have the same problem. If I try to take a picture when having an active bluetooth connection, 50% of the times Ii get a system error. Try switching off bluetooth.

HELP!!
Hi,
my phone (7610) was in for repair (the 3 button was being dodgy) and apperantly it was fixed with a firmware/software update.. mhh anyway its working.
I get home put the mmc card in and it says the card is currupted. the phone say it will format it which it does.. still currpupted. tried formatting again. inserting again etc.. nothing..

very pissed of maybe the mmc broke cause i left it just next to my monitor but I doubt that. does anyone know what to do.. thursday I am going phone shop to test the mmc and with another mmc card.

Oh and did did update the firmware which a different one... I got more options now on my 7610 which is good.. so maybe thats why the mmc is not working?
