Looks like you have used the zoom on that pic mate.
Not a good idea on ANY camera with a digital zoom, as you have discovered...

If you need to be closer then you better off taking 2 steps foward rather than using the zoom, this is not a limitation of the phone, it's a limitation of digital zoom.

guys this megapixel rush happened already in digital cameras and now it's happening in camera phones.... let's be real! it may be a 1.3 megapixel camera but it's still crap... I mean how can you expect to take decent pictures with a camera with FIXED FOCUS!?!?! Don't buy this phone because of the number of pixels in the camera.... you will be disappointed!

Yep, at the end of the day the "lens" is the size of a gnat's scrotum and the CMOS sensor costs no more than a fiver.

Besides, it's not as if you're going to be making poster prints of phone pics anyway.

my phone seems to take grainy pictures as well
its on highest possible settings, un-zoomed and the pictures are far from clear

is it possible i have a faulty phone?

EDIT: This is a pic of a nice car i took, highest settings unzoomed. Its been resized by the image hosting website to 640x480 but you can still see its very grainy. They dont even look nice on the actual 6630 phone.
