You might want to wait for the 6680...

The 6630 is very nice, but you might want to wait for the 6680 which is the followup - this is very new and better than the 6630 in several respects, smaller, faster, lighter, no bulge, better camera etc.

It will be out sometime in the new year, currently only Nokia staff know about it, there is nothing else out there!

I am hoping to post more details soon.

Do a WHOIS lookup for the domain nokia6680.com for proof!

there are always better phones coming... and you can buy a new one every month, one for better camera, another for better standby time, display, and so on... N 6630 is fast, small, and good enough... i bought it two weeks ago and iam very satisfied and i dont want to buy a new phone in the cause of fact, that there is no 3G in my country yet... and untill that i dont need an another device, because i cant use all the features and possibilities,if there is "only" GSM/GPRS/EDGE,but no W-CDMA/UMTS/ have a nice day...

I am happy to hear this, because I think the 6630 is a very ugly phone!
Nice features, and fast yes, but still lacking FM-Radio, and the round
shape at the bottom is making it look very weird and ugly.

Too bad, but am gonna wait for the 6680!!

Built for work? WHy didn't they then leave out the MP3-player, the RealONE-player
with audio/video-streaming capabilites. Why did they not exclude the embedded
games in the phone? And why did they have to make it a stereo-phone if it is
only built for work??

That argument of yours does not hold water!!!

but they did; at least mine didn't have any. not that i'd miss them, but it was strange: a nokia cellular without snake :-O

-pete

ps. what comes to this phone being 'for work': nokia actually does categorize this as 'business class' phone..

What I've heard from the 6680 is that it'll be a budget version of the 6630. So I doubt that it will be wise to wait

I agree

Hi!..

yep.. i agree with you... iīll wait the next one...

i have a 7610 right now, and itīs smaller and lighter than 6630...
so why to go back to that prototypes models? just to get EDGE? ... 6630 itīs the very first S60 3G on the market (the bulky one)... like the 7650 was the first S60 2.5G in the market... and as you can see.. 7650 was the first and the worst one... but nice till 6600 came out... well... 6630 itīs the first one again... nice... but iīll wait for the shinker and lighter version... may be better design, look and feel... and because the 6630 (US$550 right now) will be hard to sell when all see the new one (6680 may be)... at relative same price... all tryed to sell 7650 at rassonable price after 6600 was realeased, not too easy.

so.. i think that i can stand by for that all new feactures (and may be better ones), and wait for a bigger jump buying one of the next 20 models (all using 13.mpx cam) that Nokia will realase next year...

7610 itīs an amazing phone talking about small and lighter vs feactures ...

thanks!

cya!

If you can't afford the price, won't use it's features, and you think the sizing is too big for you, then don't buy it.

BTW, the form factor difference with the 7610 is only:
+9 grams
+1.4mm length
+7mm width
+2.3mm thick
So really, a little more than 2/3 of a centimeter wider is all it is.

And for the price and size it is a LOT faster at running apps, has a much improved camera (not just high rez), is stereo, and is 3G. For these reasons the 6630 looks like a great phone for me at this time.

There will be always be a better one about to come out as with all technology. When the 6680 is released there will be rumors of a nokia with 2+ megapixel, two cameras, maybe a touchscreen, a built in flash, and wifi. And then we will be waiting for that too.

GhostDog will become famous soon enough
AEFOX,the 6630 beats the 7610 in every aspect so don't even try to compare them(I'm not talking aesthetics here).

BTW:I still believe the 7650 has the best ergonomics for a Series 60 smartphone.

I wouldn't class the 6630 as a work phone because a work phone has to properly support voice dialling. And the 6630 only allows one voice tag per contact, which isn't proper support, IMHO. I need a tag for each of work, mobile and home (at least).

(I read that the 6630 only has one tag per contact in the PDF manual - I don't actually have a 6630. Would love to be proved wrong).
