Question Back up data using PC Suite fails

Has anybody done back up using PC Suite successfully? I always fail doing back up all data to the PC using PC Suite because the irda connection was always disconnected without any reasons in the midle of back up process. My firmware rev. 4.09 and I'm using PC Suite ver.1.0.0. Anybody could help me solving this problem?

My question is that the pc suite backup is a full backup saving all the settings, icon customizations, tools, etc.? Also when I do a backup on the phone (to the memcard) what exactly the phone is going to save (I know rtfm, but the help on the phone doesn't state just basic information, regarding the backup function(s), sorry to ask)

cheers,

I`m having probs using PCSuite backup as well. It starts to initialize, gets half way and then chucks an unexpected error at me. I have tried everything. A fresh bare-bones win98se install, latest PCSuite software and this morning I took the phone to a service centre for a firmware upgrade. But still no luck , it seems as though PCSuite doesn`t like certain 6600s.

I had been backup up and synchronising using PC Suite for ages, but now backup doesn't work, after analysing it reports and error and says try again.
I did think about a firmware update but after the last post maybe that won't help either.

Exacty same was happeing with me i install 6.4 it was giving me error several time then i unstall and install older version. Now the version which was working fine also giving me same error. It took hrs to have a complete backup with mmc.Even i thought that this problem was suffered by me only but there are soo many others too.
I just sync my contact and make phone on mmc and do my backup manually via card reader.
and hope this may help u all.

Hi Vicky
Looks like it`s the only way to do it I suppose card readers are cheap enuff anyway. It`s just a pain not knowing where the problem is. Is it a Nokia problem?, is it a SymbianOS problem?, a PCSuite problem? or an actual PC/Winedoze combo problem? . I backed up my settings to the MMC prior to the firmware u/g and restored them again without a hiccup. Sheeeesh.
