6600 lock code and format

could anyone tell me if the format ( green * 3) code is also suppose to reset the lock code?

reason i ask is i have just bought a phone 2nd hand, and the previous owner can not remember the code. - so have done the format, but the code has not returned to 12345.

Is taking it to a nokia service centre the only way to reset the lock code?

Taking it to a Nokia service center (or reflashing the phone, to be more exact) is the only way I know to reset the lock code.

So, if the phone is locked, you can remove the battery, format it and still have a working phone??

Doesn't it asks for the code before formatting...?

With auto-lock set before formatting..

I have used the following master reset code to initialize my phone when a menu item was missing. Backup anything important first as all phone numbers/software etc will be lost. Use it at your own risk - I offer it without guarantee but it worked for me.

enter: *#7370#

then press call.

If you do use it, please post the outcome to let others know if you were successful.

I think these codes are (*) (#) (send) (power) when mobile is power off.

but these buttons are not working when I press these buttons mobile gone to power on....

please confirm how should I press them?
