ring volume problem in 3660
i just got my 3660 a few days ago and i noticed a strange problem.
sometimes when the phone rings the sound is really low and when i answer and hang up the phone it would ring in a normal volume the next time.
this happens from now and than but i am missing tons of calls because i can't hear the ringing sometimes.
any ideas about what could be wrong?

well try making a new profile and set the volume to max .. if ur not using default nokia ringtones then u can buy ringtone studio and increase the volume of ur custom ringtone tru there .. hope that helps ..

are you using an MP3 player program?
check if you are using an MP3 player program such as Ultra MP3. I have the same problem and I guess it is responsible for the problem.

to say the truth the phone is brand new and i still didn't buy a cable to connect it so i got nothing installed on it. it's the same way it came out of the factory. i saw that someone had the same problem and the solution was to activate the vibrating when ringing. i don't like these solutions and i wonder how come nokia released phone with such a basic problem.

I can assure you that I checked all that.
Again, I found a post in this forum yesterday or the day before where someone talked about this very issue. I am not sure if he had a 3660 or 3650 but they are pretty much the same so doesn't really matter... Anyway, he wrote that sometimes his phone is rining in a normal volume and sometimes it rings low, the only solution that was offered to him was to activate the vibrating alert as well and that way the ringing volume always stays high. I did that and it works but I don't like this solution because I don't like my phone to vibrate and when it's on a table it's even worse because it makes annoying noises
As far as I know I have the most recent firmware version and I even did a reset to the phone after backing up all the info, but the only thing that helped is to engage the vibrating alert. I should be getting the IR cable any day now so I will download programs from the internet and install them. I'll try the one that was posted here, increasing the volume overall is not such a bad idea anyway because it's not loud enough anyway.
Maybe updating the OS could solve this, if that's something that can be done (have no idea).

just searching google and here I am
My 3650 is about a year old and has the exat same problem.
I noticed that if the vibrator is switched on the ring is always loud.
I have done a lot to try and fix the prob
including:
double check all parameters within the profile
increase ringers volume with software
physically cut three small holes in the back of the phone (note the three lines above the cam, the speaker is behind em)
hope the vib feature solves the prob
-Beau
P.S. I live in L.A. and travel to London a few times a year....I was so pleased with the most recent sim chip I bought ( O2 network) it came with free internet access for 30 days!
now I am checking the security cam in my office / checking my hotmail / weather and instant messaging with ease!
but imagine my jealousy when I see that my god-sister has a motorola V80 and my friend Johnny has a 9 month old nokia 6600
