infrared, bluetooth and cardreader won't work :(

Hello,

I bought a nokia 6600. I also have a laptop with a infrared device and cardreader. So i tried to connect my nokia with the Laptop so i can download my pictures, upload some applications etc.

Infrared won't work, he makes a connection but the mRouter in the taskbar keeps "blinking" if you open it you see something like this

Connected > connection lost > trying to connect > connected > connection lost > trying to connect etc etc.

Then i put the 32 MB MMC card in the cardreader. But nothing happened and my laptop had to be rebooted.

Now, i borrowed a bluetooth usb adapter (Belkin) and installed it on my other pc.
Now i have the problem that the mRouter won't search. It does do NOTHING and if u use the Nokia Connection software and select BlueTooth it gives this error.

"Media Type Is Not Supported. Please check you system for media settings".

I have the latest bluetooth drivers (wdwcomm (or something like that) and belkin drivers) and i have the latest Service Pack for XP.

I don't know what to do, i have a cardreader, infrared and bluetooth device and still i can't connect with my phone, is it so sad that i have to try the 4th option and buy a cable. Very good all these wireless connections.. :( please help me :( :(

Did you pair your phone w/ your pc before using the pc suite?
Did you check all the boxes for the mrouter ports and wait?
Are you using a version of windows higher than 98, if not did you install the drivers for the usb reader.
Are you SURE your version of windows supports the mass storage profile.

If you're sure you either have a new version of windows or a driver for the reader and mass storage installed, then you may just need to format your card to get it reading.

Also you need to set connections w/ bt as authorized.

Unhappy Me too...

I have the same problem! No way to transfer anything from my 6600 to my pc.
And I verified all you said in this page...
I have an USB Bluetooth adapter. I can transfer everything FROM pc to 6600, but nothing TO pc. No Virtual Serial Port Connection possible... Or, if it works, it's just for a few seconds, and then gets shut down.
The only thing I have ever transferred is a little (very little, just a few bytes) *.txt file, that I've written on the 'notes' of my 6600, and I found in 'Bluetooth Excahange Folder' on my Pc. But if I try to transfer a bigger *.txt, no way!
And it seems that my bluetooth software and Nokia PC-Suite are made to NOT-Work together...

Transferring files should be simple, I think it could be a phisical USB adapter problem...

Do a google search on Jons Bluetooth Guide and you will find everything you need to know about setting up a bluetooth connection using a bluetooth adapter or whatever. Unfortuneately i cant post the link here because his site has some bad links i think.

I used this site and got my bluetooth working after weeks of struggling. Dont know about the infra and card reader though, they are supposed to be the simplest ways of connectng

Btw dont even bother installing the nokia sdk with connection software because it never works. Just make sure you have pc suite and mrouter and you will be fine.

i am using widcomm drivers with a generic bluetooth adapter and PC suite

Thumbs down Why me!

After reading EVERY guide I found on the web, I just understood better what my problem is.
I have Widcomm drivers, Pc Suite and M-router. To be sure that they work well, I have re-installed them a thousand times this week!
I configure COM ports and all I have to configure, I wait for my phone to shut down the first serial connection and to start the second one, and... At this point, if I look at the properties in the m-router menu, the COM port checked says 'connecting' for a few seconds, then goes to 'not connected'. This happens the most of the times. Sometimes the second connection never started (I waited for it 5-6 minutes!), and only one or two times it switched to 'connected'. I started Pc-Suite, but it never went online, and after 5 seconds connection shuts down again.
I also installed the bluetooth update for WinXP Service Pack 1, to be sure that my pc has everything to work well, but it seems that, more than drivers, you need luck to work it out!
Ok, I think I'm just unlucky, I'll try to sell my USB adapter to someone who knows what to do with it... or I'll throw it from my window, like I wanted to do a lot of times!

Thank you all!!!

Ste' I think your right on the money there mate. I couldnt believe it when mine started working, it seems that half the time its just a fluke if you can get it working.

Us guys who have it work must just have a lucky star over us at the moment

Question Bluetooth Guide

Hi, I was wondering why you couldn't post a link to my guide. As far as I know I don't have any "bad" links!

If anyone can tell me whats wrong with the guide being linked to I would like to know.

Thanks

Jon

guide updated

Well, as no-one seems to have given a reason for there not being a link, I would like to let people know that I've updated the guide. The new address is http://www.jonsguides.com/bluetooth/

Regards,
Jon
