After heavy usage for the past couple of days on the Nokia 7610, i can made some additional comments about it. The firware version on My MALAYSIAN Nokia 7610 is v4.0421.4 dated 22-05-04, RH-51.
1. camera quality is drastically better than any phone camera (except japanese ones). About 600K per picture...oouch!!
2. Sound is much much louder than 6600, even louder than 3650. Polypronic sounds very good, not the best though.
3. the Limit of 10mins on video can be bypass by ETI camcorder. Try getting a 256megs RS MMC first
4. So much smoother & faster & more refine interface. Nokia really should release this one as the 6600. The dialing records now appear very fast instead of 30secs lag in N6600.
5. I was able to transfer all my 800sms & 1200 contacts from 6600 to the new 7610 in just 30mins.
6. 99% of programs on 6600 still works except IR remote, since it dont have a IR port.
7. Theme loading/applying is about 3 times faster than 6600.
8. I have compare the 7610 with samsung E700, i find that the 7610 have a better 65k color screen. The color now is so vivid & bright.
9. Keypad is very easy to get used to, after playing 5 hours or more of SKYFORCE & Rayman.
10. RF quality is as good as the 6600. Even in remote area i get to hand onto calls that my N6510 & SE Z600 lost.
11. Top power button need a man strength to turn on....Girls definitely wont turn it off often.
12. the USB cable DKU2 supplied is very fast compare to blutooth.
13. Loading/boot up time of the 7610 is slightly faster than 6600.
14. The phone feel so much more solid & slimmer tha 6600/3650.
15. JJ Autokeylock version 2 works fine. even after reboot.
16. Battery comsumption is not that good. Since i turn the brightness to maximum. Last me one day only, since i was talking so many video & picts & talking.
17. the GPRS now is much smoother & faster than 6600. Sorry no EDGE support here.
18. NO your old MMC card DOES NOT FIT in the new 7610, it's a smaller RS MMC that fits besides the SIM card. The adapter provided is for you to fit the card as a normal MMC card into a card reader. The RS-MMC card is made in japan by Kodak OEM.
19. The express cover can be open easily, by opening the back panel first, then the front. Do not let dust onto the TFT screen.
20. the RealPlayer is much better than 6600. Your have no jerking around with 3gp files.
21. I beleive the pop port is not stereo.

Thanx for your thoughts on this phone. You seem to be quite positive about it!
The mono-thing still makes me skip this phone though....

Didn't you know? It uses the Reduced Size MMC, not the ordinary ones!

Great stuff, being swayed from sendo-x to this now.
Do mp3's still sound crap as they do on 3650?
What about the video functions - any chance of posting a couple of videos up?
Cheers pal.
