Unlocking from UK networks

Hello everyone,

i am connected to orange mobile network here in UK, and i cannot insert any other sim cards like O2 or Vodafone. does anyone know how to inlock your mobile?
please give suggestions and opinions how to do it?!
i heard that you can do it your self through downloading some special software like a calculator to calculate the inlocking pass code.. is it true??
