I copied the midi files off my old P800 onto the shiny new SX1. I can select a ringtone in the profiles section and it plays the right midi file when I select it, however when someone rings me it plays a completely different ring.
I'm assuming I've done something wrong here because this is way too obvious not to have been mentioned before. Anyone any bright ideas?
I put the tones in C:\Nokia\Sounds\Simple\, which was the only place I could find which would make the ringtone selector pick them up. Is that correct?
Renaming the files from .mid to .rng makes no difference (although it does remove the extension in the list of ringtones, it still won't use the tone for the ring).
Oh yes, I have the correct profile selected, before you ask.
Cheers

Reason: (line spacing, sorry!)
Send the file (mid/wav/whatever) to the phone via BT or IR and it appears as a message in the inbox. When you save it from the inbox it automatically goes to the correct folder.

when you save files from a message (ie after sending via BT),
.wav files go into c:\nokia\sounds\digital
.mid end up in c:\system\sounds\digital
.rng are in c:\nokia\sounds\simple
on the mmc, put .wav and .mid into e:\sounds\digital
