6600 Orange unlock problem

I've unlocked my orange 6600 so that i can use a O2 PAYG sim in it. The unlock seemed to go OK but when I put my O2 card in, the phone powers up then just switches itself off ! Orange sim works great. How bizarre is that ! Any ideas folks ?

There are 2 unlocks you may need, one unlocks the sim and the other unlocks the network.
Did you try both?
In fact there are 6 unlock codes - but the first 2 normally work.
Whats your IMEI and I'll generate your codes again if you like..

Pretty much what was said before, except IIRC there are 7 unlock codes, and you're supposed to try the 7th or the first for the 6600 (this is if it's generated w/ the usual DCT4 software). Just so you know, the locks aren't all the same (one is complete the others aren't) and you should contact your vendor or an authorized retailer to unlock your phone. If you enter the wrong lock codes too many times your phone will freeze up on your completely. Always turn off anything that requires a password before you try unlocking your phone.

I'm not sure this thread needs to be here. It IS legal to have your phone unlocked in many places and it is also legal to do it yourself w/ software that is available free (at least source), but it isn't always legal so we're in a grey area for the forum posting here ppl.

Let's stick to 'I have a phone that I can legally unlock" and what software you are using so people can get the right info instead of a locked thread.

If your phone wasn't subsidized (you can probably unlock it for free)
If your phone was subsidized check w/ your provider.
(FYI TMO-USA unlocks for free after 90 days)

Know your rights, look at places like oftel (I don't recall the exact organization UK) or PUC for information on this. Mostly people are lead to believe they can't unlock their phone when they are fully entitled to legally.
