A925 and OS X Syncing?

Hi Folks,

I am thinking of getting a A925 on the Three network in the UK, but before I do I need to have syncing capabilities under OS X!

Does anyone know if this will work?

I know the device is a Symbian based device, so I was wondering if changing of config files will allow my to sync via hacks like some of the Nokia phones do?

If this doesn't work, are there developer kits or documentation for the A925 available for me to write my own syncing software?

Andrew let me know if you find out anything as I have an A925 (for cheaper calls) but want to do synching to the mac

I would participate if you want to write a syncing tool for A925. I'm currently looking around for information how to interface the A925.

One way I've found is setting up an syncML server. Just send me an Email, if you have questions about this.

I ordered myself an A925 on Saturday, so I should have it by Wednesday. I can start work on something once I have the phone.

I was thinking of doing a clean room re-write of the standard syncing tool using QT - this would allow us to use the new application under Windows, Linux and MacOS X with a few modifications and a re-compile.

Ideally I would also like iSync support, but for now I am just interested in getting the standard things working under OS X.

I am a C++ UI programmer, but I have done work with serial communication before when I re-wrote some Kodak digital camera software under BeOS although I haven't ever worked with USB or Bluetooth before! I am sure it can't be that hard, but getting the protocol to talk to the A925 is going to be the hardest thing I think. Have you any ideas where to start? I am going to try and email Motorola tomorrow.

I'm also thinking about buying an a925 but I need synchronisation capapilities with linux. I also would participate when developing any synchronisation tools.

I followed the instructions there and am now able to sync (and backup) my A920

In regard to setting up the syncml client on the phone and the multisync plugin on the pc.

Phone:
The "server database" in the task configuration on the phone needs to specify "calendar" for the calendar/todo task and needs to specify "addressbook" for the contacts (defaults to ./cal and ./addr by default). If you don't have the names specified correctly you end up with "could not find database on server" errors

PC:
You only need to set up 1 sync pair, ensuring that all three options are ticked for "data types to synchronise"
I don't know if it matters or not, but I have the evolution plugin as the first plugin, and the syncml as the second (obviously ). Also, the "path" in the synml plugin configuration is just a folder name (I left mine blank, which defaults to the home directory of the user running the plugin)

mckenzis, any chance I could get some more detailed instructions? I'm attempting to do the same thing but not as advanced as you are ... :-(
