Question 6600 orange uk problem

hey guys.

i recently bought a new 6600 on the orange uk network. problem is it was locked to them.
i rang to ask them to provide the unlock code but they informed me that i would have to pay up my full year + a £20 fee to unlock the phone.
i told them i wanted to keep the contract & just wanted to unlock the phone. they won't do that.
i then downloaded a DCT4 caculator & entered my "#pw+" code. i got the "sim restriction disabled" message.

now my phone accepts the orange sim but still won't accept the o2 one ("sim card rejected")

does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this?

Duh, o to local dodgy phone shop or comuter fare and get it unlocked for a tenner.

They'll moan at me for mentioning this on the forums, but it is NOT illegal to do.

In fact they are looking into wether or not it is illegal under European law for them to lock them in the first place.

You have to enter unlock codes 1 and 2 to unlock an Orange UK 6600.

Mine works perfectly on O2 PAYG

I use Nokia DCT4 unlock code calculator.

It generates 7 codes.

Codes 1 and 2 is all you need to unlock for Orange UK.

there are normally 7 codes generated by a dct4 calculator. normally you only need code 1 or code 7 to unlock the fone. orange have decided to make it a little harder so you need 2 codes instead of one. for orange uk those are normally codes 1 & 2. i didn't know this at first & have now locked myself out of my fone. apparently i now need to get someone with a cable to unlock it fully. so be careful!

I got my Orange Locked Nokia 6600 Unlocked using unlocks.co.uk website, only cost me a fiver and I paid with Paypal. They sent me the codes by email. Whilst I was waiting for my number to get ported over I wanted to use my 6600 with my O2 sim so I got it unlocked immediately.

After investigating further I know you can get software that will generate the codes for yourself but at the time it was the quickest thing for me to do.
