RealNetworks and Sony Ericsson today announced that Sony Ericsson has licensed RealNetworks technology and will incorporate the RealPlayer including RealAudio and RealVideo as well as 3GPP, in multimedia capable Sony Ericsson phones. The two companies also announced that Sony Ericsson has joined the Helix Community.

Sony Ericsson said it will bring RealPlayer-enabled mobile devices to market, but did not comment on whether the technology would first be implemented mobile phones or in WAN handhelds such as its P800 and P900 models, which currently have video features powered by PacketVideo.
