Angry Purchasing apps

The single biigest stumbling point for me buying software for my phone is the actual paying for it.
I totally don't trust any online purchasing system and this asking for my EMEI is a complete NONO!!!

I'd buy loads of them, just can't bring myself to type in my whole goddam identity into some web page.

The internet is the LAST place on earth I want to divulge my address, credit card number, phone number phone EMEI

GhostDog will become famous soon enough
Most applications use the IMEI number as protection mechanism since its unique for evey device. When you buy an application it is bound to your IMEI number and it won't run on a device with a different IMEI number unless its tampered with.

I think we all know what the other bits of information are used for.

I agree with your points.

I have never and will never buy any software that is tied to the device it is used on based on some sort of unique identification number. I can understand why the developers do it, but if they want my money, they must use some other means of protecting the software.

Not that any method will stop a determined hacker.
