Motorola A1000 - Symbian UIQ handset
Last year when Motorola's roadmap was leaked there were mentions of Paragon II which was said to be the sucessor to the Motorola A920 and A925. AAS has received a tipoff giving more information about the forthcoming Motorola A1000 which is likely also known as Paragon II. The A1000 is a UIQ Symbian phone. Notable features include a 1.2 megapixel camera, 3G support (WCDMA), and GPS support.
Please note this news remains speculative as there have been no official announcements.

It is unclear whether the withdrawal of Motorola from Symbian share holding will impact on this phone. Motorola does hold a Symbian liscense, but most analysts did not expect more Symbian phones from Motorola. However the release of this phone would fit in with Motorola's statement (after selling it's shares) that it intended to keep using Symbian in its high end 3G phones.
We'll keep you updated as more news becomes available.
Note it appears that the original picture and specs list may have come from here. This link was posted in the forums shortly after the original tip off.

As you pointed out yourself in the Nokia-buys-out-Psion-discussion shareholding does not have anything to do with coming out with new phones.
And as I pointed out already when we discussed Motorola's exit half a year ago, nothing in Motorola's statements indicate that they will not continue coming out with Symbian OS phones. In fact, they said exactly the opposite. They remain a licencee. Psion, also, remains a licencee.
Shareholding is different from licencing and I am surprised that even otherwise well regarded analysts seem to confuse the two. (I am not surprised about Gartner though, they have been banging the Microsoft drum the last five years).
Shareholding, however, has a lot to do with the overall direction and furtherance of Symbian itself.
But in any case, this is a really nice phone!!!! Finally something attractive from Motorola!!!
Let's do some historical comparisons; the Psion-Motorola Odin phone running UIQ 1.0 on ER6 (or Symbian OS v6 if you so prefer).
Any similarities?
cheers
Martin

Nice! It does look like a distant relative of the Odin, what do you know, maybe they'll revive the Thor or the Conan next
The A1000 reminds me of the 7650 when closed. One thing i don't miss here is the Jog Dial.

Cor that takes me back!
Its a great shame, I think the Odin would have been a big success.
Anyway back to the thread topic. Two speculative Symbian devices this and the Panasonic X700 in one day! Not bad.
Anyway there is a bit more confirmation about the A1000 over at Digitimes along with some other new Motorola models.

Hmm.. is the A1000 available only in China? It's a Tri-Band so I thought if I can get the ENGLISH (non-Chinese language) version, that'll be great.
