Some may say that this is what the 7650 wanted to be, some that it is what the 7650 should have been, others will just say that its another beast.

My main concern is that since the mobile world is going Java, and Java MIDP 2.0 is coming soon, shouldn't this 3650 be looking to that?

Anyway, yet another Symbian phone in the works and Microsoft is yet to get from the "we don't know if it will work" stage!

x-presson covers says it all that it's a kiddy phone. That and just look at that minging keyboard. Apparrently this is meant to sell at 200 or something which is a bit cheaper than the 7650 for something that in places sounds better specced. Hmmms, I'm expecting a low quality LCD, gash camera, and a fair few cut corners in there.

I agree getting Symbian to the mass market is a very good thing but I'm not quite sure where this leaves the 7650 now?

Still no mention of their WCDMA phone mentioned in their financial report. They say it will be announced this month and I hope it will be the rumoured 'Hilden' project.

Quote:
Nokia is preparing for a string of new product launches for the remainder of the year, including a major step in September with the introduction of our first dual-mode WCDMA/GSM phone and our first 3G network. Depending on operator schedules in WCDMA networks, we expect the 3G business system to be mature enough for commercial handset shipments by early 2003.

This is quite interesting since the 7650 has been marketed as the flagship model and now 3650 is released with even better specs. I think many 7650 owners will feel themselves a bit cheated.

One way of looking at it is to consider the release date. If they state Q1 2003, let that fall back (as release dates often do) to Q2 2003, and then (maybe) to Q3 and most of us will be at the end of our annual contracts and we'll be able to upgrade!
