How slow is 6600 comparing 2 3650/7650
How slow is 6600 coompared 2 3650/7650. They have the same OS, right?
Then why is it slower?
The themes make it slower or is it slower in hardware aspects?
Is its slowness annoying and can it really b sensed?

I had a 7650 and now have a 6600, so I can compare both phones :
Only some themes make it slower, otherwise it is more or less the same.
Get the firmware version 3.48.0, because version 3.42.1 as some bugs.

Very slightly slower than the 7650, but still well fast enough.
Lots of little things make it so much better, when surfing WAP you get a readout of % downloaded and how may kb, that is sweet.
I can actually surf the WAP while playing an mp3 in the background using ultramp3, it only skips when the phone has to display a large jpg and then it just halts for a few seconds then start again.
The whole phone feels it has ample prcoessor power to handle it's OS, very nice (and I'm very finnicky)

What's with the firmware!
How do I make sure I get the right one?
Overall, is 6600 worth the money?

How's the speaker volume (Ring tone, Playback etc...)?
I read that the sound is a little low? Is that true?

Check the firmware version using the keys
*#0000#
The sound is very good and it is a great smartphone
with lots of good software avaliable for it.
I liked 7650 a lot, the only problem was : no memory card.
6600 as memory card and a more stable operating system.

The 6600 and the 7650 run on the same OS,just different version and the 7650 is way more stable device then the 6600.

I don't think that the 6600 is slower than the 7650 in ANY way.The think is that there are two major reason for a 6600 to run slower than a 7650:
-. Some themes cause the device to run slower because of the extra load of graphics and stuff (most of them I belive are amateur made).
-. Most of the current available software is still not updated to run under Symbian 7.0 (the O.S running on the 6600) and trouble comes with it.
Remember that eventough the processor is a ARM9 104Mhz in both cases the 6600 has 10MB RAM memory against the 4MB RAM of the 7650.

You are allowed to have an opinion but the fact is: In its current state the 6600 is still slower then the 7650.

The 6600 has more RAM, but also a BIGGER OS (Symbian 7.0 's') compared to the Symbian 6.1 of the N7650 . So more memory is needed to load the OS from the ROM to the working RAM. This is where the 7650 scores
The best RAM/ performance can be checked on the N-gage. It has a compact & more stable OS (6.1) and RAM around 10,5- 11MB after loading the OS.
I think the 6600 has about 9MB available RAM. can someone confirm?

Symbian are starting to run into the same problems Microsoft have.
Updating the OS, not to make it run better, but to make it do more things.
Which instantly means problems
PLEASE SYMBIAN DONT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Allready the 6600 has compatability problems, the 6600 is having all kinds of problems using WAP.
It can't run a lot of older series 60 software, holy crap I only thought Microshite pulled that trick.
My Bango account wont work with it, they are 'looking into'
problems with the way the 6600 identifies itself , 3650,7650 work fine.
Back to the sound, the ringtones are the same as the 7650 in volume, no problem there, but the mp3 play is OK but not great, mono and very limited in sound bandwith, I've wired up some direct in ear phones to the jack and they boost base an awful lot and it still sounds like a speaker with a sock in it.

So Overall it is ???
Currently i have Samsung T400 which is Ok, the TFT Screen is way better than 7650 and 3650 (I don't know about 6600, because it has the same TFT screen as T400 and same nuber of colors), but it's hell of a lot of money paying for something that has major problems and doesn't have a stable situation yet (Maybe because its new), so over all do you suggest i buy it or not?
You know it's over 400 USD!!!
And that's alot of money for a cell phone!
I know itt has a lot of features and tthe look is magnificent really!
Btt to be honestt you expect to pay a lot for something that doesn't have problems and is ace in its kind! Right?
So what do u say?
Should I buy it or not?

It's a great phone if you don't mind mono mp3 play, they will sort it out cos the 6600 is to be THE mass market camera/video phone.
When I say they, I mean the operators not Nokia, it's designed with lots of extras that have caused them problems, but these extras are supposed to be standards in the business.
For instance my wap site had no mime extensions for video, but worked ok cos up to now most phones weren't arsed, along comes the 6600 and it rejects the downloads, so I had to update the servers with the correct mime extensions.
mime=the type of file it is.
But of course got loads of mails saying I've just updated to the 6600 and the vids dont work anymore, but treally it was sorta my fault not the phone.

job,its not Symbian's fault the 6600 is unstable or incompatible,its Nokia's fault.BTW:It is still a good device.
sinox, don't even try to compare the T400 with any other Symbian Smartphone because the t400 is a just a fashion phone that doesn't even support GPRS.Its screen might have more colours but Series 60 devices have higher resolution screens.
