Unhappy completely dead Nokia 6600

Hi folks,

I'v got a dead phone!

After installing http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~ashley/bemused/

and trying to start it, when I already had a bluetooth connection, the phone died!

And I'm not able to even boot it. No, the problem is not the battery, the phone simply refuses to boot.

Anyone out there with a helping hand? Is there a hard reset trick somewhere?

Thx - depsperate....ugh!

HI!..

Try to take out the Battery... and take off the MMC ...

Try to turn on without the MMC ...

Then you can see what happend, and then may be you can

format the phone and the MMC if there is a problem..

i hope you can boot again

cya!

Thumbs up

thx pal,

that actually worked. BUT:

After punching in the pin code, the phone started as normal, however, the display was not lit as usual after startup.

And suddenly - it died.

Plugged in the charger....YES YES YES -battery was dead after all.

Gosh! This is so alarming to me. How can we avoid this from happening?! And if ever i format my phone is that mean even the symbian OS will be deleted and i can no longer use my phone until i install an OS like when you format your PC?

I'm walking in the dark pls enlighten me.

Just make sure you have all ur contacts, pics, movies etc backuped up on either your memory card, or use a connnection to ur PC to backup data on your PC for easy recovery if something goes wrong.

I shall be paying O2 a visit this morning as the phone is still under warrenty. Im hoping its just a case of flashing it.

Ill let you know how it goes.

Formating the phone will not erase the OS it will only return it to the factory settings.

Just to keep everyone posted, I have taken my 6600 to O2. They said it will take A MONTH to repair, and took a deposit of £60 for a Sh##ty 3410.

What a useless replacement when i have all my contacts saved on my memory card which cant even by used on the loaned model.

I'm having the same problem with mine. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the screen saver, but I'm not positive. I'm working on getting a new phone, but what a pain in the a$$. BTW, I just got the phone today.

Man, When did you buy your phone? 02 must really hate having customers. My provider keeps sending me new phones everytime I call about a simple issue, they even do it by accident. You have to have some better consumer protection than a month (did they offer you a new one)?

Thanks sucks, I'm sorry for you.

Thankfully it's back! THE 6600

Just got the 6600 back today! works perfectly....they updated the firmware! As expected it works better than it did originally!

Does anyone know where I can get software (or even the name of the software) that can be used to fix the nokia 6600....i mean it can't be that hard to do + it would save time and be alot less hastle!
There's an idea for nokia...."PROVIDE CUSTOMERS WITH SOFTWARE AND FIRMWARE UPDATES ON UR WEBSITE SO THAT PHONES CAN BE KEPT UP TO DATE WITH OS VERSIONS"

You will need expensive equipment to flash the firmware on your own.A DCT4 Flash Box called Phoenix and the firmware itself which is not public.Search the forum.
