Delayed on Orange until January
I've just called the company I 'bought' my 6600 from and they told me they'd heard there were rumours about the phone not being released until January. I called Orange and they said "late-december to early January". So, who's for a P900 then?

No.
Waiting for the 6600 on Orange.
Don't like Sony phones, plus bigger and chunkier than the 6600.
Also I SMS a lot, typing with a pen instead of two fingers will be slow.
And the Orange sales people will not know about pre-release phones, have called and emailed in the past. They probably guess a release date. As it's now on the Orange site and has been for weeks it's must be due soon. A delay is good, lets them work out any software bugs also.

I am a little suspicious that maybe its taking longer than they first thought....
I too have heard January from a couple of sorces, but have heard 50 different dates from others...
I am nearly persuaded to go for the P900 oh so very much especially when I was testing in carphone warehouse the other day and it would seem like an upgrade to the 7650 whereas the 6600 has only small differneces but I really dont want to move away from Nokia...I think I will hold out too.

Yeah I seem to remember they were quite quick with the 7110 when it came out but I just think its extra annoying that this was supposed to be their phone and they were gonna be first and how annoying is it when you walk into like phones 4u or carphonewarehouse only to see the little card for the phone has prices just for the Orange Tariff yet everytime you ask about it its only available on O2 and Vodaphone...

That's odd. Orange phoned me up yesterday and told me it was out. (They'd been phoning me on and off for a few months, nagging me to upgrade. I eventually told them that I would when the 6600 was out.) I didn't have much time to speak to them, but she was trying to push a £45/month tariff with which you get the phone free. (You can change tariff after 3 months).
I'll let you know more when they ring back.

but the p900 is much more powerful and you don't have to text with the pen as it has t9, on board keyboard or multitap

what mobileshop told me is that orange have problems with the phone's software and functions and they want to sort out everything first before they get it to the shops.
I have my 512MB MMC waiting here but i dont have the phone...:(

At the end of the day Orange should release more reliable phones because they wait for more mature software with less bugs in it.
As of SMS keying on the P900, I have tried Sony phones for T9 before, and the space was on key 1 not 0, and I don't seem to remember punctuation being as simple as Nokia either - personal preference I suppose, and many happy years of the Nokia T9 keypad layout.

Well, I ordered my 6600 from Orange!
Got it free on a £50/month contract, which I'll change after three months.
Should arrive soon! I'll keep you posted

Bought it off NER, which are the handset representatives for Orange.
I got it on the £50 tariff, because you get the phone free. You're only locked into it for three months, so I'll change after that. The next tariff down (I think £35?) the phone would have cost £100.
This is my first contract phone (that's in my name, anyway) so they'll call back in a week with a security/credit check.
