Its not ILLEGAL!!! The worst that will happen is that it will void the warranty on the phone... how many people have you heard being arrested over upgrading their phones firmware!!!

Is firmware flashing on the A920 any simpler than on the nokias?? Where can I get the A925 firmware....

I dont see why some posts have been deleted by the mods for discussing how to open up the phone... if you can find out how to make bombs, poisons and all sorts of nastyness on the net, I dont see why discussing how to get around the phones protection is breaking any rules. If we kill the phones, then its our fault!!!

Its hardly a matter of national security now is it??

Wheres the democracy!!!!

Democracy? What on earth has it got to do with Democracy? Rafe and Co. own the domain and the servers, are responsible for what goes on there, COULD (though not likely) find themselve's with a law-suite if a large company takes offence to something we post on here and have every right to restrict the sites content. Not only for their own protection, but also for the benefit of the site and those that use it.

For example, thanks to this sites reputation amogst the industry for being very careful about pirated or pre-released software etc., many of us have the privelage and opportunity to test and use software long before it's released.

All this grey-area stuff is available elsewhere if you're that bothered, but AAS doesn't allow it, has every right not to allow it, and has created a unique niche for itself because of it's policies. Long may it continue.

Unhappy Opinion part 1

I am reading these posts (and on a number of other boards) with a mixture of sadness, concern and dissatisfaction.

Yesterday I went out and transferred three phones over to 3 and I was ‘sold’ on Bluetooth, IR, cost, Video calls, PDA POP email and an Internet browser. As we all know by now this is not the case, well in my idea of functionality. My case is a little deeper as, although promised, I am not in 3G coverage and have been downgraded to O2 basic services.

I am saddened that members of this and other boards are leaving the communities due to the stance of the Administrators and while I understand the position of these Administrators in view of possible legal action I also understand ( as I also feel it) the frustration of the members and A920/Three customers. Ultimately these boards are there to help the user voice an opinion and, with like minded individuals, be heard by the commercial machine and allowing a board to be intimidated detracts from its viability.

Unhappy Opinion part 2

I think the response to the Democracy topic was a little harsh. I think the message that was being attempted to be communicated was that of freedom of choice. Let’s face facts the networks are not poor, given roaming charges etc. (another old chestnut.) The reason that you are tied into a contract is to recover the cost of the phone, so as I see it, if you choose to accept that your warranty on YOUR phone is invalidated then what difference does it make what you do to it. No one would stop you from leaving your TV out in the rain, nor is your car restricted to the speed limit.

That would have been the end of my little rant, except for the fact that I bought the goods under misrepresentation. They STATED that it would Bluetooth, IR, etc. and if there is software out there that allows it to do that then they should be posting it not trying to drive it underground with threats of legal action.

Think of the glory if you took them on and championed this (just) cause.
