Keyboard shortcut questions

Does anyone know if when selecting a menu item, instead of scrolling down the choices, can you just press a number on the keyboard instead.

For example: if you click 'options' or some other menu item do you then have to scroll down to say option 4 or can you just press 4 once the options menu is open?

The 1-9 keys are by default already shortcuts to icons/programs visible according to the grid they are laid out in:

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

If you rearrange the icons, then the numbers refers to whatever app occupies that position now.

No. I mean, once you are already in a program and you need to access that program's menu, you press option.

Then you are presented with a drop down list. Can you then just press number 4 to access the 4th menu down, or must you scroll to the 4th item?

No such functionality/feature in Series 60.
