Anyone from Aus?

Anyone by any chance floating about from Australia?

Floating about on the aussie 3g forums, it seems that 3 or 4 people so far have been told by varying different 3 stores that the new Bluetooth enabled firmware for the 920 will be available in mid October and we're gonna get charged $50 or so for the privilage! Cheeky b*stards!

Does anyone have anything to offer on this front? Sounds a little suspect, but fingers crossed eh? Let the rumour mill start churning ... :p

Nah :(

I originally thought that it did ... then realised I was being a spanner and that "Serial" was not equal to "IR"! :p

Since then it turns out that the a920 is never gonna get IR - seems a bit pointless as the hardware is already there ...

Ah well ...

What do you mean the hardware is there?

Does it have an obvious IR transmitter on it then?

I'm just curious about these Bluetooth and IR rumours. If the hardware is there why disable it? Its not like your stopping copying data to the device as you've got USB.

Cheers

The IR and Bluetooth rumours aren't rumours. The phone will have a firmware upgrade available in the next few months that will enable the Bluetooth. This upgrade will be chargable.

The IR (although there very obviously is a reciever) will never be activated as 3 don't think we need it. Hmm ... sound ominous.

The plot thickens as to why 3 think they need to cripple a perfectly good phone ... ah well - I still like it!
