Blimey ... Full data access??

Righty,

I take no responsibility for anyone's phone bill with this, but here we go.
Create a new gprs access point data connection simply with "3netaccess" as the address.

Then go to the browser, disconnect from the current connection and open the URL of your dreams... works a treat.

As ever I'm in 2.5g roaming on o2.

Try it lads and lasses!

James

*UPDATE* - Seems to work for proper pop3 accounts as well.

Nice ...

You cant set it - if you got 2 of the 3 bits of the coverage doughnut yellow, youve got 2.5g. I might mission it out later to dee if I can get it goin in 3g areas too ... dont see why not tho.

Anyone seen Rafe's new prototype webby for ickle screens? Aint givin away the url tho :p ...

Once I chose disconnect I couldn't get it to reconnect and so turned it off then on. When I went to the browser I then selected 3netaccess from the dropdown and got that message.

I will force a connection to O2 and try again.

I'm on a voice and picture coverage area now - is that the O2 connection?

Anyway, I tried with this coverage and got the same message again. Were there any other setting I should have put in the connection? I didn't put anything under advanced.

James Preedy

Is James the only person that can get this working ?

James, is it that you can connect to the O2 GPRS only when your out of the 3G coverage or will it work regardless as long as the settings you said are put in ??

I am going to get my A920 tommorrow so hopefully I can have some luck to.

What are the O2 GPRS charges ?

Looks like it so far ... through I think it may be more through fluke or brute force and ignorance! Even then granted its a bit hit and miss. I've had better luck using the different 3 gprs access point than the o2 one - and that let me use external (non-3) pop3 accounts.

As for the 3/2.5g debate, went to a 3g area today - found a single pub in York where there is (almost ) 3g coverage and couldnt get anything to go at all except the walled garden 3 site and 3 mail. Then when I got back to 2.5g I'd knackered that too. So ... am now not happy! Dont worry tho - I'll get some more screen grabs of settings and sites when I work it out again ... fingers crossed! :S

As for the charges ... your guess is as good as mine. Its scary tho ... in Aus its 1c per kb - considering their £35 is $38 a month that would make almost a tenner a meg! Ouch ...
