Browser of the 6600

Will the 6600 have a better builtin browser than the p800? And the other thing i want to know is that will the builtin browser of the sx1 be better or will the 6600 have a better browser?

I think this is a valid point. Nokia should think about such things as a built in browser (at least a basic one) since the phone has such easy connectivity to the wed through GPRS or regular WAP over GSM.

Actually, there's no such thing as "wap" anymore in the 6600. It has xhtml browser which uses pure tcp/ip stack for connections. So, no wap protocols anymore. SX1 still uses wap stack.

What makes you claim that? I seriously doubt that's the case; there's no sensible reason to drop WAP protocol support yet, as it'd mean many existing services would become inaccessible. And since the code already has been written and tested in existing Series 60 releases/phones, there's a marginal cost (testing and memory footprint) in keeping it around.

Note that the built-in browser in the current 3650 also supports some version of XHTML already (with WAP).

To get this information, all you need to do is browse to Forum Nokia website and pick up the info. 6600 browser still understands wml, so all existing services are available. The fact is that 6600 has tcp/ip stack instead of wap stack.

The web browsing experience on a N6600 can never be as good as on a P800 IMO. -Simply because the P800 screen is almost twice the size of the N6600 screen, and as the P800 screen is touch sensitive, the manouvering will be better. The P800 also offers a faster GPRS connection.

When that is said, the N6600 will also most likely work with the excellent Opera browser, which should run better on the N6600 than the Nx650's because it has more RAM.

I also believe that Opera(currently available only to the SYMBIAN OS) offers a better web browsing experience than any other web browser available, even for PPC's and Palm's.

no, I think it has not!
thereīs no info regarding tcp/ip on the 6600.
the first nokia which will be able to run that protocol will be the 5100.

herīs a quote from the latest Nokia Developer Network Newsletter:

Color XHTML and HTTP over TCP/IP Development Begins with the Nokia 5100 SDK

Mobile browsing has taken another evolutionary step with the Nokia 5100
device (Americas version), the first Nokia phone to use a TCP/IP
connection for color XHTML browsing and HTTP communication.
Supporting these new capabilities, the Nokia 5100 SDK is an all-in-one
solution for developing enticing applications that utilize TCP/IP
communication and the rich presentation abilities of this Nokia phone.

The Nokia 5100 SDK emulates the browser, Multimedia Messaging
Service (MMS) client, and Java(TM) 2 Platform, Micro Edition
(J2ME[TM] platform) MIDP client of the phone, as well as the network
communication. The SDK can be configured to use any WAP gateway
or connect directly to remote or local content.

The Nokia 5100 SDK is also the first Nokia phone SDK to feature
Diagnostics, a unique set of views into the phone software that provide
unprecedented insight into the behavior of the phone as it runs various
applications. From client/server transactions to KVM heap usage, there
is no other source for this critical information.

The Nokia 5100 SDK can be used as a plug-in by developers using Nokia
Mobile Internet Toolkit 4.0, Nokia Developer's Suite 1.0 for MMS, or
Adobe GoLive 6.1 or later for MMS and browser content. The SDK also can
be used with Borland's JBuilder, Sun ONE Studio, and Nokia Developer's
Suite for J2ME(TM) for MIDlet development.

Download the Nokia 5100 SDK http://www.uptilt.com/ct.html?s=7za,2zcn,alk,dfaw,mawt,7at2,c1hw

Download the Installation Guide http://www.uptilt.com/ct.html?s=7za,2zcn,alk,53nu,i6pn,7at2,c1hw

Is it so hard to check?? Go to here and find 6600 from the device matrix.

itīs a mistake!
itīs not the first time that this site of the forum provides wrong informations!!!

check again the headline of the developer forum newsletter: 5100 will be the first to run TCP/IP!
and where do you find something about TCP/IP on the 6600 features-site
http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,33211,00.html ???
and check the developer forum: are there any SDKs for TCP/IP for 6600???

cheers

GhostDog will become famous soon enough
The 5100 may be released before the 6600.The SDK regarding the 6600 will be Series 60 2.0 SDK.

This is from PDF files i downloaded from forum nokia

Quote:
Series 60 Platform 2.0 provides a dual IPv4/v6 networking stack. The new TCP/IP
stack supports a plug-in mechanism, where networking modules can be hooked into
the stack. There is also a new, simplified client API for using secure sockets.
Although there are changes in the TCP/IP stack, all APIs exposed to client
applications remain the same.
The 6600 will use Series 60 2.0 as an UI so it will use the new TCP/IP Stack,i guess
