Ambicom USB Bluetooth and PC Suite 3650

I'm a beaten man.

I've read these posts for hours and tried all the suggestions but can't get my 3650 to work with PC Suite.
I tried the stuff they suggested for the 7650 even tried the 7650 PC Suite. I have all the same problems that everyone lists. I can use the bluetooth software supplied with my Ambicom BT2000 adapter and send images back and forth. But PC Suite is impossible.
Does anyone else readin this have this adapter, a 3650, Windows XP and actually get it to work? Thanks for replies.

Ok, here is what i tried with my USB Blue monkey adapter. I started the Blue monkey software and found the phone. Then on your task bar double click on the mRouter icon, and select the COM port of your adapter. Mine is COM 3, yours may be different. Anyway, doing it that way connected mRouter and PC suite worked after that. I found that solution after 5 straight hours searching the web. Its possible, you just have to find a back door.

Try that, it may or may not work.

Well I got XTend Connect Blue manager working under Win98 SE but could not get it working with PCSuite under XP Pro. In 98 it installs the COM ports by itself and they appear in mRouter automatically (all 5 of them). In XP id installed the soft and it works cause I can use Blue Manager to send files but even after installed a BT COM port manually in Device Manager mRouter still would not see it. I can deal with just sending files and then using file manager so I did not search much. Plus I still have 98 on my machine at work and use BT there no prob.

I have the Ambicom adapter, a 3650, and win2k, which should be close enough. It took me 6 weeks to get this to work, and it really was only blind luck that I figured it out!

I have the latest Ambicom Drivers from their Website.
I have the lastest version of PC Suite for 3650 from Nokia.

Here's what I have to do to connect PC Suite to my phone (and believe me, it doesn't alway work. Sometimes I have to reboot before it will work):

1. Open up "Bluetooth Neighborhood" and make sure it lists you phone in the available devices. Leave this open or else you won't get any BT at all.
2. Double click on the mRouter thing in your system tray to bring up the "connection properties".
3. Now is when things get tricky. You have to jump through a couple hoops to make everyone happy. Start with everything unchecked.
4. Check COM3. Nothing should happen.
5. Uncheck COM3. This should pop a dialog box asking which device you want to connect. Select you phone from the list and hit ok. You may get some kind of IR error, ignore it (bogus message).
6. Now quickly go back to "connection properties" and Check COM3 again and wait a little. Your phone should then handshake with mRouter and the status for COM3 should go to "Connected". If this doesn't work, go back to step 3 and try again. It sometimes takes me 3 or 4 times to get connected.

Let me know if this works for you. If not, we'll see if we can force it to work. I was ready to go out and buy another BT adapter before I stumbled upon this solution.

I followed your procedure and feel like I'm close. The only problem I run into is that my 3650 pops up a note asking if I want to connect to my computer. Of course I do, so I hit yes. Then the process gets messed up and everytime I click com 3 I just get an infrared error. Have you run into this? Let me know if you have any advice, but I'll keep tinkerin. Maybe my luck will improve and the sucker will work! THanks!

Using your Bluetooth Adapter with the Nokia 3650.

Eg. Belkin Bluetooth Software ver 1.2

Before Starting:
1. Make sure you have the latest Nokia PC Suite software installed in your computer.
Note: You must download the latest Nokia PC Suite from the site.
2. Make sure the Belkin Bluetooth software and adapter is installed properly. Remember that you should have a bluetoth adapter that supports serial port profile.

Pairing the Nokia 3650
1. Go to the Main Menu of your Nokia 3650
2. Go to CONNECT and select it by pressing the center of your Scroll Key
3. Select Bluetooth
4. Make sure Bluetooth is set to ON
5. Using your Scroll Key scroll to the next tab to the right in your Bluetooth Menu
6. Select OPTIONS and then NEW PAIRED DEVICES
7. Your Phone will search you area for active Bluetooth devices
8. Select the Computer you would like to connect your phone To
9. Enter a passkey, use 0000 and click OK
10. On your Computer check the taskbar (next to the Clock) for the Passkey prompt
11. Enter the same Passkey on your Computer (0000)

Setting COM Ports on the Computer
1. On your Computer, open Bluetooth Neighborhood.
2. On the Tool Bar Menu Select BLUETOOTH then DEVICE
CONFIGURATION
3. Click on the LOCAL SERVICES TAB
4. Double click on the SERIAL PORT
5. Make sure that Startup is the only option Checked (uncheck encryption)
6. Next change the port to ComPort COM 9 or a higher number COM Port and click OK
7. Now go to the Client APPLICATIONS TAB under the DEVICE CONFIGURATION
8. Double Click on Bluetooth Serial Port
9. Click on the Pull down Menu and Click on COM10 or higher and Click OK
10. Click apply
Connect to COM Ports
1. Go to Bluetooth Neighborhood
2. Go to My Device
3. Right click on the Serial Port Icon the go to Properties
4. Verify the COM (COM9 or higher set in step 6 above) is selected and that Start up
5. Automatically is checked (uncheck encryption).
6. Double Click on the M-Router icon (PC Suite) on your taskbar.
7. In the PC Suite Software enable COM9 or higher set in step 6 only and close
8. Go Back to Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood and double click on the Paired Nokia Phone

9. Double click on the serial Port icon
10. Accept the connection on your Phone
11. You may get an error on your computer saying that com 0 is being used. Click OK.
12. You may get a connection fail prompt. Click OK
You are now connected to your phone. Verify the connection by double clicking on the M-router
icon at the bottom right of your tool bar. The PC Suite Icon in the system tray will also turn from
grayed out to blue and green meaning that is connected.

THanks for the info Jamella, but unfortuantly for this ambicom usb I don't have any of the stuff you listing in my bluetooth neighborhood. I was able to finally get it to connect after trying the com 3 fool around method though! Doesn't seem to easy or very stable, but it seems to work eventually!

Oh yeah, it helps when you give the FULL details. I forgot a couple of steps. I have already paired my computer with my phone. You'll want to do that to avoid the "Do you want to connect" question everytime you sync. You can pair the devices like this:

1. From "Bluetooth Neighborhood", right click on your phone and select "Trust device".
2. When prompted, enter a password. Don't worry about picking a great password here (or even remembering it for too long), it is only used once to confirm that the device is there. I use 1234 since it's easy to remember. Hit OK.
3. On your phone, it's going to ask for the password, so enter the password you just entered on the computer.
4. Now your computer trusts your cellphone. Now you just have to get your cellphone to trust your computer. Go to the "Bluetooth" app (under "Connections") on your phone.
5. Press right to see the list of "Paired devices". Under "Options", select "New Paired Device". The phone will now go out and look for BT enabled devices to pair with.
6. Select your PC from the list and do the same kind of password thing that you did in step 2 and 3.
7. Once paired, there is one more thing to do. Select your PC from the list of "Paired Devices" on your phone. Select "Options" "Set as Authorized". The phone will then tell you that this means the computer can be connected without confirmation from you. Tell it "OK" and you should be all set.

I too recently purchased the Ambicon USB Bluetooth.

I had the same problems, still do.

I was told flat out from an e-mail from Ambicon that the USB Bluetooth
device was NOT compatable with Nokia's PC Suite.

Used stand-alone I could send and receive files from my Nokia 3650.

They told me the same thing, but I got it working (it can be some trouble sometimes, but it still works most of the time. But then again, I only sync about once a day).

I have the XTNDconnect bluemanager too. I use win98SE, but I can´t get it to work. I can receive files with bluemanager, but PC-suite doesn´t work with it. Should I try reinstalling the whole usb-dongle and it´s drivers`? Im just afraid that if i do that, mRouter won´t even find the com ports, that it finds now. I´d appreciate it alot, if someone helped me with this.

What is this "bluemanager" program? How do you receive and send files with it?

I have a Nokia 3650, Win 2000, a Trust bluetooth adapter; mrouter does connect with a lot of trouble, but PC Suite won't recognize the connection.

It´s software that came with my bt. the connection from phone to pc works like a charm, but there´s no chance sending files to the phone. Im starting to get desperate with this.

With that "bluemanager" you just have to pair the two devices and make them trusted to eachother. That takes like 5min and voilá, phone can send pics to your pc with no problem.

Could you tell me how you got mRouter to connect? It might help me with this "operation bluetooth"
