Firmware details confidential ?

Recently i e-mail to Ericsson to ask them the difference about the latest firmware in the P800..and the reply i got was :

--------

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Customer Care Center.

We appreciate your patience and apologise for the delay in responding
to your e-mail.

With regards to your inquiry,
We regret to inform you that the detail of firmware updates are
confidential. Normally firmware updates will improve the general
performance of mobile phones. Thank you for your kind understanding.

Best regards,
/Kenneth Cheong

Why would they want to keep the firmware a secret ? at least let us know what's new so to see if it is worth upgrading the firmware. It's quite a hassle to put back our phone data back everytime we have to flash the firmware.

I think they don't want to be like Nokia..... where their R&D is fucked up and claim to be buggy... see all the phones we used last time, 8310, 7110 , etc... all firmware have problem and that's degrade their "name".

I think Ericsson is avoiding such problem like Nokia.... company name as stake.....

Perhaps.... perhaps..... perhaps...

It is confidential, so we can not list it. If you have a problem with something, we can tell you if it will fix it or not.

That's lame! Why is it confidential. Once it is released every-one knows about it, so why would it be confidential :-?
