Polaris for Cellular Phones transforms the advantages of sophisticated navigation and mapping technology into a solution simple enough to work on any Java-enabled cellular phone either with or without the use of GPS. Built with user convenience and safety in mind, Polaris for Cellular Phones enables users to choose the way they wish to work with the application. From the car, the mobile device keypad is used to search for addresses, perform cross street searches, look up POIs and receive optimal routing. However, for easier, more convenient routing, entire routes can be sent remotely from the office via the Internet.

The application requires a one-time only download to the client device, provides hi-speed route downloads and has no need for connectivity during navigation sessions. Additionally, in order to meet a wide range of consumer needs, the Polaris for Cellular Phones runs on all models of Java-enabled phones such as Nokia 6310i, 7650, Motorola T720, Sony p800, Siemens sI45i and more.

I think this will be offered to consumers by the network operators, or by corporations (eg transport/couriers/taxis) to their users. Movistar in Spain are beginning to advertise such a service...
