big problem

Hi everyone
I have a very big problem with my p800.
firstly, a window appeared when i was trying to open an application.
that window says: Disk full.
Then i tried to switch off my phone.
When i was trying to restart it, the sony ericsson annimation appears but nothing else.
I let it like that for about 8 hours but nothing new.
May someone help me
I'm very upset with that shit, 'cause i have a t39 that switch off every time
I'm wondering if i have made a good choice buying that phone

Can you see the phone from the PC, or has it not got that far in the boot cycle?

If so, then deleting some data from the internal memory may be enough to let the phone start.

May be that you have a corrupt system file and doing a restore to the phone may work to clear it.

Failing that, try to do a factory reset. :(

is there any other way of doing factory resetting??? aside from the FORMAT option which is reachable if you can boot up the phone???

Unfortunately, if you have problems booting up, I think there's no other way but bring it to a SE service center.

Hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset the p800 and see whether it works.

I've heard about this, it's no problem.. But.. there always is a but... You need to go to factory. They must reset the phone. Reason is your internal memory is full, so there is no room for the startup programs. So all crash.

I have no idea why I decided to turn off the P800 when I had the same "Disk full" message, but now I have the same problem at startup. As stated, I am sure it doesn't have enough room to create temp files, etc. Unfortunately, I am working in Azerbaijan and there is no hope in hell of finding a service center to reset a new phone such as this. Anyone have another method (hard reset button, etc) to reset the phone?
Thanks, Ed

Ta.

Now we know what to do. Mind you, that would've been the things I tried first if it happened to me....

Thanks...but the phone ~*never starts up*~ beyond the startup screen/sound. There is no on/off capability or menu functions once turned on. Will need a hard reset if you know of one?

I have one suggestion, since this P800 is more like a computer... perhaps removing the battery and leaving it out for a long period of time (say an hour would be sufficient), would initialize it. Its worth a try, specially for those people suffering this startup problem and there's no SE service center anywhere near.

You can do nothing now. Go back to SE Centre to have it flash to a newer firmware and in the process of doing this, they will also clear out your internal memory for you.
Next time remember to put all your thing in MSD. And leave as much room as possible for internal memory (C.

sounds like one of the things that needs a fix in the next firmware... like a locked minimum ammount of temp space, a "rescue" mode or even better external linkup fixing.
I'm guessing SE centers are getting tired of "fixing" this "problem" as most none techie users will do this eventually.
