Series 60 Java Book

Dear all

I am a Java programmer and today I have bought a Nokia 3650.

I wish to start programming for this platform using Java ... do you recommend a good book to get me started?

Well there are several books in the market about J2ME. According to your level of knowledge, you will need the appropriate book. If you go to your local bookstore, or browsing Amazon you will see mayne J2ME books. Sereis 60 Java is very similar, in fact it is basically the same. Some minor differences in the UI are explained in the SDK that you can download freom Forum Nokia. However, there is only one book about Series 60 and that is mostly for C++ but has some Java chapters too. Its is called Programing for the Series 60 and Symbian OS.

I have been looking for a book to take me from 'NO KNOWLEDGE' in JAVA to J2ME. Is there a book that does so and if no then what is the best way for me to learn J2ME?.

Remember I don't know JAVA.

Cheers

I am not aware of such a book and I am afraid there is no such thing. You can sart learing Java first, Any Sams Teach Yourself would do. Then go for a J2ME book.

Many thanks MaleBuffy for your reply.

Will 'Teach yourself J2ME in 21 days' take the reader from 'no knowledge' on JAVA to J2ME or does it assume that he knows JAVA?. If the second then I have 'Teach yourself JAVA in 21 days', 1996 edition, is it the easiest best way to begin?.

Cheers

If you already got the STY Java in 21...then read that first!
Then get the J2ME. Thats the best way!
