New: Traffic-i Service allows traffic updates on P800

Traffic-i is a new service / program that is currently only available on the P800. It allows you to get detailed and uptodate traffic reports on your P800 from the well known Trafficmaster system (UK only). This is exactly the kind of service I think is the coming thing on Smartphone. This is quite expensive for a years subscription, but probably well worth it if your drive a lot.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago, and think it's really good.

For the quality of traffic information it provides, I think it's very reasonably priced, and it uses hardly any GPRS data compared to web browsing or sending emails.

The best thing though is the information is displayed so quickly after launching the application, about 10 seconds and you get a complete overview of the traffic information wherever you are in the UK.

Impressive, how detailed are the maps....could it be used as a route finder too, or am I asking too much?

While there are 5 levels of zoom this takes you from looking at the whole of the GB mainland (no Northern Ireland I'm afraid) at the lowest level of zoom to the highest level which is probably about 20 miles across the screen. It only shows the major trunk routes though really so it wouldn't give you enough info to navigate around the jams on back roads. I does however take the guess work out of wondering whether to go through Birmingham or head across the A50 when travelling from Manchester to London

For the price, £39.95 (and then £34.95 per year) it's an absolute bargin I reckon. I'd probably have paid £2 per trip/day for this type of info and the dedicated Trafficmaster units cost something in the order of £120 per year I think, not including the initial cost of the hardware.

I have this new software and it works very well. They have just released an update which is available for download at their site.
