Where do I find the link to download Quickoffice 5.0 ?

Link failed

Yep - links seem to be down at the mo, from the confirmation email, from the confirmation webpage and from the upgrades page in Quickoffice on the phone. Bah!

News like this should mention the time zone the day is measured in.

Did you see how spreadfirefox.com handled the Firefox 3 launch?

They wanted to set a record for downloads in 24 hours, and they told everyone the date, but they didn't tell anyone the time or what time zone that time was in. It turned out the date was wrong for most of the world because they based the attempt on California time.

Don't panic!

For anyone who couldn't/can't download the software on their device directly, don't panic, just hang on to the email they send you and download the software as a SIS file from the website using a PC, install it to your device then open and register it using the code sent in the email. I had these problems during the night but following the above method using a PC, it worked fine this morning. Must have been a popular offer!

Ouch. Didn't know it was so messy. I knew the time zone from the start (maybe found it on Slashdot) so it was no hassle for me to download Firefox 3 towards the end of the 1 day window.

I'd expect news websites to be the first to adjust to the global web by remembering time zones and specifying the markets/continents of any published statistics etc. But even big ones still have a lot of trouble with it...

Indeed - time zones can make things tricky. I did note in the original news story that Quickoffice is US based and that was probably the restriction, but no way to be certain. Sorry we didn't catch this earlier.

In case anyone is interested AAS operates on UK time (currently British Summer Time). I remember setting up news pages to time stamp with a time zone code for just this reason of clarity.
