The ultimate niche utility? - Full Screen Caller reviewed

SmartphoneWare's Full Screen Caller comes under Ewan's scrutiny in his review. It's fair to say that he wasn't bowled over by the utility. See what you think and feel free to comment!

Read on in the full article.

phone number in screenshot

Er Steve, do you realise that your phone number is displayed in full in one of the screenshots (it's possible that it's a mockup or you don't mind it being public, in which case ignore this)?

Yes, it's my number, but as a 'business' I have to give potential customers *some* way of contacting me by voice 8-)

It's been public for years.

I was suprised the review didn't mention another current drawback of this app -- it doesn't autostart (presumably it lacks the relevant level of Signing to do so).

So you have to remember to manually activate it every time you switch the phone on ...

An interesting point, but how often do you turn your smartphone on or off? In my case only when I change a SIM card, once in a blue moon. At night, I just put it in Offline mode etc.

This app does autostart. Just activate and it will running the next time you restart the phone.

I just don't like the fact that it doesn't use the images in the contacts database. A few years back on a much older version it used to.

Don't want to get into a "oh no it doesn't ... oh yes it does ... " argument, but it defintely does *not* autostart.

I emailed Smartphoneware about this, and they said it wasn't currently possible for them to do this (I presume because of Signing, though they didn't actually say that).
