E72 SIP oddity

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, or come across this, as I suspect SIP is something of a minority interest.

I've tried my E72 (original firmware, UK SIM-free) connecting both to my in-house 3CX system and directly to Sipgate.

It connects, and logs in fine. But for some reason, when you make or receive a call in handset mode, the received audio on the E72 is very garbled, with a charming dalek effect. Press Loudspeaker, however, and it's clear as a bell.

Since I'm about 3 foot away from the wireless access point, that doesn't seem likely to be a factor (and in any event, I've tried two different ones); and since it behaves same same with two different SIP services, it's unlikely to be that, either.

Anyone else seen this?
