Hallo,
I am also interested to use tomtom with the internal GPS from N95. What ist the last version of the maps? Can someone test it? Because I don’t have TomTom jet, but if it works I will by it.

As far as I know, TomTom has not released a version yet that works with the N95 built-in GPS.

I have a N95 and use Tom Tom v6.02 (8300)
(Map version 660.129) on it, via bluetooth to one of these in the car....

w w w.crownhill.co.uk/product.php?prod=1477

Works an absolute treat and lasts for at least 6 hours if not more.

Im happy with this. The things you mention about trying to get to use the built in GPS in my honest opinion, might be a little waste of time. "Personnally" I dont want to have to have the face slid open to be able to use the GPS which has to be if you want to use it. (which I dont have to at present using the above via BTooth). The other thing to consider is also the battery life would be considerably less too using the internal gps as well.

So for me its fine as is.

The only thing about the tomtom, is that it appears more laggy on the screen compared to perhaps actual tomtom kits. But its PERFECTLY fine and useable.

So 3 things to improve in my opinion are:

1, Battery life,
2, Internal GPS enableable without sliding open the num/keypad.
3, Smoother animation for Tom Tom.

I cant imagine batterylife being an issue for most, as it will be plugged in.

Its standard to have to plug any GPS device in, regardless of what it is (mobile, dedicated device etc). True, you can run it off battery but they all come with adaptors.

Many people on these forums run satnav software using the internal GPS, be it route66, navigon, navicore, or nokia maps.

As tomtom is the best out of these, there is great demand for it to work alongside the internal GPS.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SITE

First its just a route66 hack (allegedly - I bet its not) and then it tries to install something 'divX' to your computer, which IMO is most likely a virus.

Nice...

Anyway, you got me curious about that site (stupid, huh?) so I checked it through skweezer.net. It contains the following text:

TOMTOM FOR N95
Lot of people claim on the net that they have a working solution for N95 internal GPS. They are all fake.
try this.
This is the only working copy of route 66 (tomtom type) for N95 which i have tested myself.
It will work 100%. You just have to put in little effort to sign the sis though (inst included).

...and a picture of a N95 running Nokia Maps

Wether it's a virus or not, there's nothing new or interesting, so why risk it?

Anyway, I bet gpsm is soon done 'amending the source code', right?

Screw TomTom? You wouldnt have paid for it anyway. Its not like they are losing out.

Of course, you know best with your advice to me in that GPSM was going to turn up with the goods. 'Scuse me while I try not to laugh.

it does work well with tt6 just needs the external gps receiver as stated above.

these good gps units with 42 channels etc can be hidden in glove boxes and work well and pick up signals, they are sirf3 standard and a far better than the inbuilt stuff,

i,ve been running tt6 on my last 4 nokias, n73, n80, e65 and n95 always worked a treat

cheers

Yes, but the whole point is that people want something that uses the internal unit, hence the title.

On another note, do moderators ever check anything? I reported that post about being a potential virus (as well as a link to cracked software) and its still there.

Well, I figured someone better protect the naive around here, even if they are after cracked software.

I assume you never got the fix from GPSM like you said you would?
