The Apple iPhone unveiled

With more information about the iPhone’s features, accessories, and availability.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs said Apple plans to bring the iPhone to Europe in the fourth calendar quarter of 2007, and to Asia in 2008.

After more than two years in the making, Jobs Tuesday announced the company’s intention to enter the mobile handset market, unveiling the new Apple iPhone. The iPhone brings together several features of the iPod, digital camera, smart phones and even portable computing to one device, with a widescreen display and an innovative input method. Jobs also mentioned two accessories for the iPhone: stereo headphones with integrated microphone, and a Bluetooth headset that pairs automatically with the iPhone and goes to sleep to preserve battery life.

“Every once in a while a revolutionary product comes along that changes everything,” Jobs said.

Featuring a new input technology called “Multi-Touch” the iPhone features only a single physical button, called “home.” You control the phone by sliding a finger across its touch-sensitive 3.5-inch display, which has a resolution of 320-by-480 pixels at 160 pixels-per-inch display.

Can\'t see what\'s all this oomph and aah about an iPhone. Its just a dumb phone from a dumber company.

Lets see what it has special, shall we?

1. google maps - any phone with web access(read PDA) can do it.

2. all the facilities of a phone - whats your phone for, bake cakes?

3. play music - lots of phones can do the same, and so can your PDAs. With VLC available for them, you needn\'t be worried about the formats of the media

4. touch screen - not all are comfortable with those anyway. they have limited lives under heavy use, and with more and more people growing big these days, a wrong touch with that fat finger of yours may result in an action completely the opposite of what you were looking for. ... ...
quote from /, and you may find more why people won't buy iPhone.

How to unlock an iPhone, and hack your iPhone

At present, there is no one solution which can completely unlock iPhone. But iPhone unlocking hackers are moving toward making Apple's iPhone work with carriers other than AT&T. The following way listed below is all FREE.

1)DVD Jon's solution for Windows
His Phone Activation Software allows the iPhone to be used for media playback and Web access via Wi-Fi without paying for the two-year service plan, although voice calling is not possible under the hack. His method does work but a little bit too complicated. You need to install several programs named PhoneActivationServerV1.0, UltraEdit, MS .NET Framework and you have to modify hexadecimal values.
More details:

2)Unlock iPhone with one-click (Mac, Win)
It's been three weeks since the iPhone launch, but the iPhone unlock software can also NOT support unlocking iPhone for using other phone services. Why mention the program here? The software listed at DVD to iPhone site can activate iPhone easily, only one click is enough. Download and run, click 'Unlock iPhone' button, that is it. your iPhone will become a widescreeen iPod and Wi-Fi enabled device. At present, only Windows version is available. But, the Mac version and the SIM-card unlocking, iPhone GSM network unlocking function are under developed.
More details:

3)Put old Cingular SIM in your iPhone and made it work (Intel Mac)
his procedure does NOT unlock the iPhone after doing this, it still remains carrier dependent. But you can now use any existing AT&T or Cingular pre-paid account (mine is from a contract that ran out) or any virtual operator's SIM card that uses the AT&T and Cingular network. This also works for corporate accounts.
This method is for those who live in the United States and can get access onto the AT&T network. Please send all inquiries about service to AT&T. I don't work for AT&T, so I can't answer account questions (I'm getting tons of them).

If I found the better solution, I will add here.
Tom Webster, July 19th.
