Thats a bugger. A mate of mine had his replaced, and he got at least one program re registered for free after he told them what happened, although i dont know what that was.

Suggestion to the companies

I recommend suggesting to the companies that they give at least two or three registration codes to different IMEIs of each user. What they think, all the users will take their smartphones for only a year or two, and without any possibility of replacement by fault ?

I am the author of a shareware game for EPOC (Psion 5MX, Revo, etc) and Symbian OS 6.0 (Nokia 9290), and I give up to 5 reg. codes to each registered user to avoid these common problems. In the EPOC world it is usual to have 2, 3 or 4 machines (a Psion Series netBook, a 5MX, a Revo, etc), so I think it is fare enough that a registered user has the right to have more than one registration code.

The main purpose to link the reg. code to the IMEI is to avoid publishing a reg. code that will work on any machine, by using Internet forum, mailing lists, sites, etc.

This situation can change if the users show their criticism.

Good luck registering your apps,

Roberto

mann, if that happened to me, i'd complain to the company and write to the office of fair trading. if you buy something, then it becomes yours no matter what, if they say they're not prepared to resend you the registration code, then they should make it clear when purchasing and they should also have this in their terms and conditions, if it's not stated, then they can't carry it out and therefore should have to do a replacement,
