I have an unusual problem with my N97. I am about to replace it (with E7) following the end of my 2 year contract, but have had very few problems with it until last week. My daughter will however be using the N97 once it is cleaned up.
A week ago a mystery alarm or warning started sounding at 5:53pm every night, even though there is no alarm set at that time. The sound is a high-pitched dual note which repeats for about 10 seconds. There is no dialogue to stop it, and the alarm is not listed in either calendar or the clock alarms.
I read on another thread in AAS that in S60v3 it is possible to delete all alarms by locating and deleting a system file (alarmserver.ini). The file is apparently then recreated when the phone is restarted and any rogue alarms are deleted. I have used both X-plore and Y-browser, both set to view hidden and system files, but cannot find this file.
I have also performed a hard reset (partially to clean up before handing the phone on and partially to solve this problem), and reinstated only those core applications I use regularly, but this has had no effect - the alarm/warning still sounds.
I also tried locating and playing all listed sounds and tones, so I could delete the offending sound file. I can't find it.
Is there an equivalent of the alarmserver.ini file on the N97? If not, does anyone here have any other thoughts. I can't see my daughter being very impressed with an unwanted alarm every night just as she catches the bus.
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions from the AAs team or members.
Sorry - I should have introduced myself before posting.
I am a long time user of Psion (Siena, 3a and Revo) and Symbian (SE P800, SE M600i, N97) and have been a fan of AAS and 3Lib (especially the Phones Show) most of this time, although I only joined the forum in 2003.
In that time I have had no need to post previously, as any questions I had were answered either by the AAS team articles and recommendations, or had previously been raised and solved in the forum, which is why I turned here to solve the one exception - the mystery alarm I have commented on above.
I guess I have the option of using the "three fingered salute" to reset everything, but before resorting to that I was hoping that someone here had previously experienced and solved a similar problem in S60v5.
