E65 - battery dies unexpectedly

My E65 has been running fine for over a year now but the last couple of days it has suddenly died on me without warning. One minute the battery charge level seems fine and then it dies. It's fine again after a full charge but I can't be sure of getting even 24 hours out of it. It gets a full charge overnight every night (to give me a bedside clock) but I do use WiFi a lot and SIP VOIP as well (plus a bit of streaming radio!). Would sudden loss of the last bit of charge be indicative of the battery just being done, or might there be something else I should be looking at (apart from trading up to an E66!)
