Question Is it possible to connect to the internet through a 9500 using its Wifi?

Here's one I've tried & not had much luck on so far.......

In PCSuite, there is a function to allow a comp to connect to the net 'through' the phone when using the usb cable.... (Sort of a reverse of IP-Passthrough)

Now when the phone is talking to the web via GPRS, I have managed to get my comp to connect to the web also, via the phone.... as though it is acting like an external modem or something.

However it would make perfect sence if it were possible to connect the phone to the internet first via Wifi, then once that is established, allow a comp to connect to the web THROUGH the phone & use its Wifi connection!???

This would be perfect if you had a laptop for example (running PC suite), but it lacks a Wifi card (or centrino)........ Hey presto - use the phone as your Wifi 'card'???

Anyone tried this? Got it to work etc??? Is it possible?

Not doable. The phone would have to be a TCP/IP router & it isn't (doesn't have such software).

Would it be solvable if gateway software were written?

Seems to be a very logical & useful idea, & a great shame if forever impossible.

It would need to have some app created like Network-Bridge, that would allow a PC or laptop to use the 9500 as a Wifi network card, & then connect via it, once IP info has been allocated to the phone via DHCP from the wireless router.

Any software/network gurus think this is possible?

Anything is possible with software, but the questions are (for starters):

How hard/difficult is it to develop?

Are all APIs/interfaces needed for such documented and accessible/published?

Would it the resulting code be too big or too memory or CPU-consuming to be practical?

How many would actually pay for such software to make it worth-while (especially if it isn't an easy, quick&dirty freeware effort) for anyone attempting it in the first place?

My guess: It is cheaper, easier and faster to buy the WLAN card for your PC.
