Sudden Drop in Battery Life - P800

I recently noticed my phone battery was running out much faster than it used to - by evening time it was down to around 10% - compared to more than 50% based on my normal use.

I purchased a new BST-15 battery - this one is 1260mAh compared to the 1000mAh I previously had, but the problems still persists. Its not as bad as before but I am still not getting the normal running time from my phone. I have also made sure I have charged the battery adequately.

BTW, I dont use bluetooth.

Any suggestions as to what might be causing this problem?

Thanks

It could be an app draining the battery. Maybe a beta or illegal version of some sort of software. Try remembering what you installed just before the problem appeared

Or something silly. I found a similar thing happening to my phone about two weeks ago. Noticed over the weekend that the backlight was set to on and screen-saver turned off. I'd done this for a meeting a few weeks ago (so I could take notes without the screen constantly fading whenever I stopped for a couple of minutes), and just forgotten to turn it back.

I had something very similiar happen to me - my P800 that had been running for a year and a half with the same battery suddenly seemed to drain shockingly fast. I thought it was to be expected being that the phone is always on and has gone through many charging cycles. So I bought a new battery but waited for the current battery to die altogether. Surprisingly, after another day of this odd behaviour, the battery life came back to normal!! Good thing I didn't open up the packaging of the new battery, I simply returned it to the store.

I don't remember having any different applications running that might have caused this battery drain...

Cheers,

Lonnie

Thinking back, my mum (who has my old P800) has had the same problem! It was reducing battery life, and from one day on another: it worked better then ever before. Really weird

Cool

I found my battery draining dramatically when Infrared is ON.
Also when Philips Camcorder is activated and even after program was closed.

Then you were probably using a beta version of Philips Camcorder, because this was fixed in the final version AFAIK

it's a very common problem with all SE phones

I will avoid SE in the future because of it - i think it's done on purpose
