Nokia 6230

the Nokia 6230 is the Symbian phone that never was. At least thats what I think.

Personally, see it as a near perfect device for my needs. it even surpases the 6600 and even the 7610. it has STEREO radio and mp3 playback, which since my beloved 5510 is an important aspect in my next purchase....that and price.

the 7650 has served me well, but now i just find it and many other new phones lacking in that crucial audio area. if only the 6230 was symbian.

its sad, but i will have to put my 7650 on mothballs for the forseeable future, until a worthy symbian comes by. for the meantime, it will have to be the sleek, neat and robust(functionally) 6230.

I hope that getting a non-symbian phone does not mean you will be forgetting the symbian community (read AAS)

Thumbs up

Orophin Anwarunya

I would agree with you 100% this is a very very nice phone.

The camera quality is Ok (640*480) , the video feature is useful for the odd MMS (unless you are with Vodafone UK!) You can play MP3 through your Bluetooth car kit or set them as a ringtones. 1 week to a page for the calendar. 65k screen. Not forgetting the size, weight and battery life!

For a Series 45 handset the 6230 has a lovley feel to it aswell as lots of useful features.

I see the users flocking to get there hands on this handset in vast numbers.

I agree, it's a very nice non-symbian phone, maybe the nicest on the market IMO.

A bit offtopic, but does anyone know if the BT headset SE hbh-65 is compatible with the 6230? I remember that Nokia BT headsets don't work so well with non-nokia phones, so that's why I ask

I've now decided to sell off the 7650.....c'est la gere!! the 6230 is a perfect upgrade to my long dead but elegant 6210. Now that was a business phone....that is until it got smashed under a Range Rover 4x4!!

Delta737:
i dunno about BT headsets since i've never had a reason to use one (7650 letdown) but from what i've read, SE headsets do work with nokia phones but with some initial setup difficulties...apparently. i hope that helps.

Is there an MP3 player for series 45 phones? If so then this phone will replace my 7650 too. Damn what a nice looking phone.

GhostDog will become famous soon enough
There is no third party mp3 player although some devices have it built in.

the 6230 has one built in.....its a proprietary music player.

its interesting how most of you agree with me on my decision, i was half expecting a torrent of replies directing me to similar Symbian handsets. like the SX1 for example.....even though i think it pales in comparison to the 6230 (designwise).

Excellent. I am totally sick of waiting for a symbian phone with all the features I want to be released in this corner of the world. SX1 hasn't arrived yet, neither has N-gage(!!!).
The 6230 looks to have just what I want for now. Hopefully it'll last me a year and by then a decent symbian phone will be out.

Even better news for potential nokia 6230 buyers. The well known and respected german magazine "connect" tested it, and put it on 1st place, beating the SE T630 (the P900 is still in first place in the smartphone-list though )
