Anyone able to run DOSBOX?

I found instructions on another forum about running DOSBOX on the N97 where apparently some people there have run it successfully.

Upon trying I found that the binary dependencies already had later versions on my N97 (most likely from other programs) and that one of the files had an expired certificate which prevented it from loading at all.

DOSBOX is a DOS emulator with which most people want to run old DOS games with.

In my case I'd like to run more productive DOS applications like Borland's Turbo Prolog and XLisp (both AI languages).

The "port" of this application listed on Sourceforge is for S60 3rd edition and it would be very nice if this were ported to 5th edition to take full advantage of the N97.

Has anyone here successfully installed and run DOSBOX?

You could always set the handset date back 6 or 12 months and see if the expired cert. app installs ok.

Usually if dependencies are already installed (at a higher level), then you won't have a problem with the main app being unable to update the depndencies.

DOSBOX for Symbian is still very flakey no matter which platform you are running it on - Although the S60V3 is more stable than the V5 models. It does work on the S60V5 - and one of the support photos is running it on the 5800 Music Express. N97 however, is probably the most flakey to run on. Windows (3.1/9x) will run on V3 phones without much problems (except the random entire phone reboot). However, will not run WIndows properly on the N97 to date. It will just exit the program when Windows gets launched.

I was not impressed with DOSBOX on my Nokia N800. The way it was written it was in a tight polling loop looking for keyboard input instead of being interrupt driven.

Thus the CPU was always at near 100% and the battery didn't last long.

I'm hoping that the Symbian version is more geared toward battery conservation.
