hotmail users

hello. any hotmail users out there have a good "system" of using hotmail on their N70s? don't suppose there's anyway of having a link to hotmail without having to put username & password in each time? speaking of which, when i DO get to the login page of hotmail - i ALWAYS have to manually change the setting to accept cookies (not sure why it doesn't remember my preference for the bookmark).

Why dont you set up a mailbox for hotmail. Thats what I've done for my hotmail account, I have a couple of mailboxes set up.

I can post settings if you require them or google search them

hi jimbob, thanks a lot for the kind offer. i've had a careful look at the manual... and contacted my provider (orange) but can't figure out what the incoming mail server should be. i searched around the web and tried these two (that don't work):

http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp

http://OE.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata

the rest of my settings are:
access point: orange internet
email adress: (my hotmail address)
outgoing server: smtp.orange.net
send message: immediately
user name: (my hotmail username - prefix to @hotmail.com)
password: (my hotmail password)
incoming mail server: ??????
mailbox type: IMAP4 or pop?
securty (ports): off

any advice jimbob? thanks a lot!

Hotmail has no support for standard Internet email protocols (POP3 or IMAP4 for receiving and SMTP for sending), so you can't use the phone's built-in email client.

However, there may be front-end/relay service providers that handle the POP3/IMAP4 and SMTP for Hotmail access.

Or consider switching from Hotmail to another free email service providers that does support established standards.

I use hotmail on my N90
Went to mobile.msn.com on the wap browser.
Once logged in and viewing my inbox I bookmarked it at that point.

Now when I go to the bookmark it goes straight to my inbox without the need for logging in again.

Nice & easy.

Does it not work like that on the N70?

The incoming mail server for hotmail is pop3hot.com. (The number can vary between 1 and 9, which ever works on your phone, number 3 works fine on mine)

Mailbox type is POP3

I have hotmail set up as a mailbox in Messaging as well as a Ntl box. Both work fine and have no problems with them.

Hope this works, if not just let me know.

I have a hotmail.co.uk address. My n70 is on Voda and I'd like to set up the mailbox. Anyone had any luck with this? Can you tell me what the settings are please.

yappie!

i managed to set up mine (from M1, Singapore) .. managed to download the header and retrieve the mail content.. got problem sending.. checked with the service provider M1 and was given the correct outgoing server. now, waiting for my sister to confirm the receipt of my email.

the settings mentioned above works well, with incoming setting at pop3hot.com. i select pop for my mailbox type.

Im able to send emails (tried it and it works perfect!) but not receive... it just says no e-mail messages and when I go on Retrieve All it doesnt... it just goes straight back to the no email messages screen.

Any idea?
