Audio output level on N95

Hi, anybody testet (and compared) the auido output level (dB) on the N95 compared to their native MP3 player, or previous Nokia phone?

I had satisfying audio on my N70 with PowerMP3 installed and with tweaked equalizer, but on the N80 the audio is to low.

Anyway, both of these phones were sub-standard to a dedicated MP3 player/iPod.

How is the N95 performing with regards to audio output? How loud, and how good?

(And come on, be honest now! - Don't brag just because you are the proud owner of a new N95)

I'd say (and this is a bit subjective) its somewhere between the N80 and N70. Does depend on headphones etc... The decrease in audio output is down to EU regulations (I think). If we're talking speakers then the N95 is much better.

I find the quality is as good as the N91 (a dedicated music phone) and that was good enough for me to get rid of my iPod in favour of the N91 and a decent set of headphones.

Wow.really?

I have tried 2 N95s and the audio quality is poor. The main issue is not the level but the amount of hiss. The signal to noise ratio is astonishingly poor and I would not replace a dedicated MP3 player for this!

Its not just my handset. Perhaps some people are less sensitive to the hiss than others.

What audio sources are you using?
Through 192kbps or higher MP3s I find the audio quality pretty faultless.

It hisses even without playing anything. As in, just navigating around the phone menus with the headset plugged in, everytime you press a button, you can hear the hiss. The same hiss occurs when playing any mp3 regardless of bitrate.

I get better results with stereo bluetooth!

Could that be down to the headphones or the jack then?

The headphones will definitely affect the response. The Nokia provided ones were a bit hissy and then I put some REALLY good ear-plug type earphones and the hiss was unbearable.

Tried a N95 yesterday. In my opinion the audio output was slightly higher than the N80, but only slightly. It did produce better bass though than the N80.

Still I miss my N70 with the PowerMP3 software installed, best sound so far!!

Also, dissapointed by the resolution on such a large screen.. It was noticeably "blurry" compared to my N80..

Think I will have to think again before I buy this phone.
