Fry on Bold, Storm and G1

I apologise for yet another non-directly-Symbian link of interest, but Stephen Fry has just put up his latest multi-thousand word essay, returning to his favourite theme of smartphones, in which he cautiously praises the Blackberry Bold, assassinates the truly horrible Blackberry Storm and put the T-Mobile G1 into proper perspective. Good writing and I agree with most of what he says. And yes, there are loads of Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Symbian references along the way. And a few swear words too....

Read on in the full article.

Wow. Now that's long, even by his standards. May have to wait until tomorrow. His panning of the Storm actually led to an interesting discussion on the dot.life blog "Can Stephen Fry Kill a Gadget?".

Cue much inter-fanboy fighting, familiar to these columns.

I can honestly say that probably no one will ever read that blog post. It's good to have lenghty and detailed posts, but that is bordering on ridiculous.

You'd be surprised. He has a huge following: dare I say... more than AAS?

No! Surely not.

@neil. According to Alexa, AAS's reach is ten times that of Stephen Fry's domain.

Not wishing to demean the great man, but: NOONE HAS A GREATER REACH THAN ALLABOUTSYMBIAN [FX: salutes the statue of Rafe] 8-)

OK, I believe you.

You have to admit his reviewing style is quite fun:

"The accelerometer meanwhile allows the screen to change from portrait to landscape in the manner we are all now familiar with. Except that it allows no such thing because itís shite."

@unregistered:

I read the whole thing. The thing about Fry's blogging is it's a joy to read and frankly, the more of it you get the better.
