Ok, but still:
Opera 8.65 shows up exactly the same front page on mobile.google.com as the Symbian browser, except that one "search (download)" link. I don't wanna complain about the service of little presents, especially when they are as lovely as this little app... I just don't want google or any other company to act as a guardian for me, I have no choice ;%

Anyway, thanks Google - great app you came up with here!

Jay3gsm, it does disconnect after use, so I don't know what could be ailing you.

A nice touch is that it initiates the connection as soon as you press the Ctrl button so by the time you finish entering your query the data connection is ready to go.

The only thing i'd like is an option to disable the popup notification every time a home screen is displayed. No reason to remind me every time what button i have to press to invoke it.

Overall, it's a nice little application -- a keeper.
I'm still having issues with the connection, still, as long as I remember to disconnect, there will be no harm done

You can disable the pop up in the settings, but then the pencil key shortcut doesn't work. I've set it to one of my favourite apps to launch is only a couple of clicks away, no great hardship.

runs in the background

nice app, but i guess i wont be using it since i dont like to have stuff running in the background. Especially since i am using an e90 (i am lucky if i get two full days battery life at a stretch). Not that i am complaining, given the kind of empowerment this device gives me, but i still have to be careful about battery consumption. But i am sure this will be a real treat for e61/i users.

Nice app indeed, but I too won't be using it since the standby thing conflicts with SkyeQuiKey which I find way more important for me. As a standalone app, it may sound nice, but I've got Google set up as my homepage in Web anyway, and that's just a long press on 0 away...

i don't see how this is different from going to their website with the s60 browser.

Doesn't the long press on the '0' launch the services browser and not the web browser? You can obviously check out the results better on the web browser as compared to the services browser.

I second the need for a native Gmail app, but otherwise nice little app (if kinda useless), miles better then Nokia search

Just one showstopper problem - it needs to be able to launch Opera Mini (or Opera or whatever) rather than the annoying default browser. Like the PC Gmail Notifier does. And the standby screen popup is very ugly, especially with your own wallpaper.

Close but no cigar

In future iterations I hope the prompt is removed from the Active Standby screen, but the pencil key shortcut still works. As it stands this doesn't really offer an advance for me as Google is my homepage and the browser is an Active Standby App...

Works on the E62

Wow - both maps and search work great on my pokey E62, and I don't get the annoying "Allow application to access network" idiocy that AT&T forces. Now - a native Gmail app would be great!

On the newer devices, ie N95, E51, E90, N82 etc etc there is no services browser, just the Web browser which as stated launches with a long press on '0'

Even though this is an old matter, I compared Google Search with Nokia Search and the browser in my blog, with videos. Check it out http://www.fwrnando.com/blog/2008/co...earch-methods/
