The Nokia SW upgarde tool does not provide that option.
Any idea how to?

Thanks,
Gabi
unfortunately you cannot do that

Firmware download

Hi All,
Is it possible to download the firmware to the PC and not to a phone so that it can be installed later. the reason is here I have fast connection but when I go home I have to use the phone itself for the connection (GPRS Wifes' phone) It took six hours last time.
Great site,
Cheers,
Mike.

NO .. at least not with the Nokia Software Updater.
Longer answer is yeah kind of .. using other software. But its still going to take a long time on a non-broadband connection.

My suggestion would be either take it to a Nokia Service Center .. a friend with broadband or if possible install the Nokia PC Suite on a machine at your office
Ideally a laptop would work

Hi,
Maybe I wasn't 100% clear. I am working in another country-Lithuania where I have good access to the net. I have an N95 and I have updated it to V21 etc. I have bought my wife an N95 but it needs a firmware update, she is in Italy. When I go back home to Italy for good next week I can update her phone via her phone over the GPRS network, the only option we have. there is no Nokia service centre either . It will take between 6 or 7 hours if everything goes OK.
Everything must already be on my laptop from my upgrade so why can't I use it?
Cheers,
Mike

K, Don't know if it is in here but don't re-install backed up files after debranding and upgrading - naffed my phone but thankfully the hard reset worked (phone off green key, hash and three, switch phone on.

I now have version 15 - can the process be repeated to update it further?

Hey.I was wondering if it's possible to 'convert' n95's firmware from RM-245 to RM-159 for instance?

Yes, but first you have to find the FW package, then you have to install a cracked version of Phoenix service software.

newbie

hi guys!

n95 newbie here.

i tried updating my firmware a few weeks ago, i encountered some "problems" after i started NSU.

at first i encountered " missing some critical software". I'm using Windows XP by the way. Then NSU showed this message: "Network connection lost. Check your network connection or whether a firewall is preventing the applicationfrom working properly."

admittedly, i was not connected to the internet when i started the update. silly me.

After NSU closed, another message keeps on popping out of my task bar saying: "Nokia Device Bus connected in non-compatible mode, change it from phone UI." Well, actually, my PC is detecting two devices connected: 1. Nokia N95; and 2. Nokia Device Bus. I only have one phone connected to my PC.

my phone is working fine so far, but because of these messages, i'm afraid to continue my update from V 20.0.015 to 21.0.016. i might end up bricking my phone.

any suggestions?

thanks!

-isda

NSU 'caches' downloaded FW files on the user's PC.

However it only re-uses a cached copy when the handset model AND product code about to be updates is the same as the handset previously updated.

Hi all

I've had a look around on the site and I can't find an answer to this.

I'm on v14 and when i run NSU it tells me v21 is available. It downloads but when it goes to install I get the message saying 15 minutes remaining, the phone reboots then I get the 'phone recovery' message about removing the battery etc.

No matter which USB lead or port I use the same thing happens, I've tried all different kinds of product codes and it's just not happening for me.

Sounds like you've got the latest t-mobile firmware (v14) and now you've debranded in an attempt to get something better.

I got exactly the same problem when I tried this. Someone suggested reflashing with v14 and then immediately change the product code and try updating to v21 without restoring any original settings in between. I thought I'd done this, without any success, but I can't recall the exact scenarios I tried now.

Hi. I'm tempted to debrand my Vodafone N95 8GB. If I did so, am I right in presuming that I'd lose my Vodafone certificates? I'm sure they're needed for a couple of Vodafone apps (most a useless, but I'm rather fond of Voda Sat Nav) - so is there a way of saving them and reinstating them after going vanilla??

many thanks.

I debranded and updated to the latest firmware last week, a couple of days after receiving the phone from Vodafone. I updated to Nokia Maps 2.0, started the application, went to 'Options' and 'Licenses'. It updates and shows my free three months.
